Changes vs Fremantle - Round 5

Every time the fixture comes out, there is two near certainties each year. The Cats beating us, and Fremantle flogging us with pace and run in Perth. Hence not overly optimistic about this game. But hopefully we can come away with a statement win that last week was just a one off.

Never thought i'd be looking for Trengove to come in but with no TBoyd it,s pretty obvious. Le Young, Schache, Lipinski and maybe Lynch. 100% effort this week is whats needed from whoever plays.

Legitimately did not know Williams was playing until after half time. How has this kid gone from exciting line breaker to this?

While I agree with the general consensus that the coaching needs a shake up, looking at our list; I feel like we've probably already witnessed 40% of our wins for the year already.

Anybody looking to bring Duryea and Suckling back into the side anytime soon will need to reassess their team.

Sucklings out for 2-4 weeks

Duryea's out for 6-8 weeks

A positional change worth considering would be McLean out of the forward set up and Hunter playing deep forward at the toes of Naughton.

Duryea and suckling our hurts

Hurts to say, but we may face the same issues as we had against Carlton.

Freo have many huge marking targets in hogan Tavener Cox lobb mccarthy who will dominate the air

Their speedy runners in hill Langdon Walters Matera etc will run rings around us

Observations:
May need to swing back Naughton for this game, need a strong intercept defender that can actually compete

Need to play very defensively to win. Control the ball, control the tempo similar to q1 against Collingwood to limit as much score as possible.
With a Lower score line, it gives us a better chance as we aren’t very potent offensively

A down week for Bont, macrae,Hunter and libba against Carlton. They are crucial in defining to how our game goes. McLean to play more on ball, Wallis fwd

My personal changes:
Out: Williams young hayes
In: Trengove Lipinski Lew.young

Tough on our debutants but we need to reward JT and lip. Experience needed

And people say we need to stop getting fringe players [emoji28][emoji28][emoji28][emoji28]

They're part of our best 22

How our development has gone out the door

Jesus Christ this place is so toxic after a loss. Horrible, inexcusable loss nonetheless, but **** me if you've been a fan of this team for longer than 5 years it's nothing you haven't been through before.

Not a pardon or excuse for it but we were still the youngest team in the AFL last round and least experienced out of 18 teams. Terrible performance last weekend, but i'm willing to back our young team in to try and turn it around now and make up for it, rather than throw in the towel. We still have the same really good young core of future stars that we did after round 1-2 that everyone loved. A lot of work still to do though...

Really need some more height and versatility in this week. 1 ruck, 1 KPF and 1 KPD crap and i'm praying we don't go with the same setup. I hope Trengove comes back in and Schache too for fwd structure (though he doesn't exactly deserve it after his last few weeks). If Trengove comes in and goes fwd then I would like Lewis Young back in instead of Schache. Time for Lipinski to get a run too after good form in the 2s.

In : Trengove, Young or Schache, Lipinski

Well l would back in Brand Lynch or Lucas Webb , Lipinski and Trengrove or Boyd if ready and the Taller Lewis Young.
Out..... take your pick of one paced midfielders (Mclean excluded )hiding in the forward line, and Short slow Half backs (Daniel and JJ excluded.)

JJ Young Wood
Crozier Cordy Williams
Caleb McLean McRae
Lipinski Naighton lynch
Dickson Schache Dale

English Bont liber

Trengrove Hunter Hayes lloyd

Out: Wallis Dunkley Gowers Richards Young Smith
In: Trengrove lipinski, Schache, Lynch, Dale, L Young

Talker and quicker and harder in the mid field and a second Ruck

Time to move Williams back to the flank and leave him there.

Would love them to bring in Brad Lynch, offers essentially the same as Duryea with more pace

Get over it. It's for our collective mental health. No one who gets offended reads it. We need to vent or we'd chuck it in!

I tend to agree
We are just shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic now
Or should I say the SS Minnow
At least it would be amusing if we had a Gilligan. But Jones plays for Carlton now [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6]

The "youngest team in the competition" thing is only a viable explanation if you don't have experienced players sitting out of the side with young blokes who haven't even earned their place in the team in their place. Just because it's the youngest 22 doesn't mean we have the youngest or most promising list.

true, its a knee-jerk reactive response week to week depending on the result....but, at 2-0 with anything possible and upcoming Gold Coast and Carlton home games you couldn't have imagined us sitting now at 2-3
