Yep. Perth has seen a 25% drop from Peak to trough, peaked in 2014. Sydney and Melbourne aren't gonna suddenly jump back up to it 2017 peak and we are at historically low interest rates and people still calling for cuts lol.

And account for a tiny percentage of the demographic split.

Young people overwhelmingly vote progressive. Older generations mostly vote conservative. But older voters outnumber younger voters.

It's a bigger issue in countries where voting isn't mandatory because older people tend to vote in higher numbers, but it's still enough to swing an election in Aus.

Some of those seats aren't anymore conservative than inner suburban Victoria. But they have been hammered by negative adds, doorknocking and posters. Which seems to have been hugely effective.

SE Queensland is not much less conservative than the regions. Gold Coast is the Bible Belt of Australia.

The average left wing Queenslander would be far right to the average left wing Victorian.
