Who’s going to be next to piss away their career ...

So a bloke that has taken a team from 5 wins in 2018 and has managed 6 wins with 6 rounds to go gets the boot- despite having a horrible run with injury to many key players.

YET, A guy who had 14 wins in 2018 H&A season and has managed 5 wins this year, with arguably less serious injuries has no pressure and the football manager says the season is an outlier??

Lethlean to bring in his mate Brad Scott?

St. Kilda are a disgrace. No loyalty or patience whatsoever.

The team clearly improved this year and just had some luck go against them. Richardson certainly wasn't helped by the list management's inability to recruit talent.

If he does there could be a large drop in membership.

Bassat said Brett Ratten would assume senior coaching responsibilities for the remainder of the season while the club undertakes a rigorous process to find the best coach to lead the club to a second premiership.

Given Carlton made such an abject mistake in sacking a HOF-caliber coach in Ratten I expect the Saints to now be close to faves for the flag this year. They can still get to 12 wins and then real off 4 straight finals wins from there.

He had 5.5 years and is one of their longest serving coaches. That's patience.

Lol exactly the same thing people said before we sacked the absolute anchor that was Bolton - look what has happened since.

The thing re: Richardson is less "did he deserve to get sacked" and more "did he deserve to get an extension of his contract"

He's done better than last year admittedly, but last year was a big time underperformance. And while the W/L doesn't look terrible most of St Kilda's wins have been uninspiring, playing weak teams or sides in terrible form. St Kilda's percentage is worse than Carlton's, for example.

Fact of the matter is the situation was such that if he was kept after this year they'd have to keep him on for another couple of years. When a side hasn't made the 8 for the six years you've been coach you kinda run out of excuses.

Comparing his situation to Goodwin's is silly as he actually has played and won finals.

I'm surprised he has so many defenders. I suppose the list hasn't been fantastic but after six years you have to own the list. And his footy just seems really uninspiring - their skills are poor and there's no real "brand" of footy that St Kilda can talk about. Look at what St Kilda fans are saying compared to opposition ones, for example.

The only thing bad about this is that it didn't happen at the end of last year. I'm sure Alan is a very nice man, and he would make a great science teacher or something, but he is statistically the worst coach in history, and stats don't lie. You can blame injuries, personnel changes, retirements, whatever, but he had long enough at the helm to prove he isn't the man for the job.
Not lets hope the Saints make a good decision in his replacement.
