St Kilda parts ways with coach Alan Richardson: report

I honestly don’t know what the knock on Scott is. Clearly he could coach, and it’s not like he had Hawthorns list, or Sydney’s list.

For sure. But he made the finals four times? Made the prelim twice. The way people talk about him sometimes it’s as if North were constantly fighting it out for the wooden spoon.

I’ll be honest I am not sure why people are so for Ratten and not Scott. Scott took a subpar team to two prelim finals; in terms of final appearances and general consistency Scott destroys him.

Not that I am saying Ratten would be bad just not sure why a lot seem to be for him and against Scott.

Because both Scotts come across as dicks and Ratten seems a nice bloke.

Bizarre how the turning point was their slaughter of Richmond in July 2017.

Under his tenure till that point they'd been steadily progressing upwards and looked headed for finals. Certainly after night most would've expected them to finish ahead of the Tigers that year.

And yet they barely have a yelp after that, won something like 12 out of 45 games and are miles off finals. Would be fascinating to learn what went wrong after that.
27 odd percent win rate since that game......... 2016/17 combined was over 50% w/l

Considering Petracca was the alternative the McCartin pick wasn't that big a miss.

Petracca is frustrating and a massive (literally, seriously who does his conditioning?) tease but he's played 79 games in 4 years and is an 18 disposal, goal a game player. If he was at St Kilda he would be in the 22 every week. Sadly for McCartin he's never been able to reach that level.

This presser is a massive load of horse s**t! Gurantee the Siants will be back in the some postion choosing another coach within another five years!
You can't even spell it! Typical of grubby ass Geelong supporters to swoop in like vultures to kick St Kilda when they are down.

No doubt but if they took Petracca instead he'd possibly be worse and the Saints would still be in the same position as they find themselves in today.

St Kilda could do a lot worse than Brad Scott, contrary to what most NMFC supporters are saying Scott is a very good coach, he just stayed 3 years too long.

In the end it will be up to the board, and perhaps Rattens performance over the next six weeks to see which way the Saints go.

All the best.

Yeah Scott is who i hope Carlton go with :)

Teague or Caracella would be good. Both put in the time. Ratten might not even want it yet

Both put in the time, what a criteria - not against either, its the criteria.
Who are the quiet achievers that helped Hardwick be reinvented as a premiership coach, helped Bucks turn it around. Its not just the coach, the footy manager is very important & it doesnt have to be a big footy name like Balmey.

Brad Scott took a team people said wasn't good enough to contend and had them getting the best out of themselves and not contending.

St Kilda need to be realistic about what they have to work with.

Nathan Burke was on SEN and said he had SEVEN coaches in his playing career at St Kilda, this is not
surprising or shocking in a crap industry where there are so many active laptops in the coaches box
and yet so little responsibility. Smith, Jeans or Barrassi at the helm and still no finals at the end of
the season for this team, how many St Kilda players would get a game at the good teams ?
