Young/Scott over Powell is disgusting.
Amazing how a pre-season of optimism I haven't felt in over two decades can be crushed by the thought of Lachie ******* Young caught out one on one in the goal square as the last defender against some Hawthorn scrub so-called KPF who will end up the contemporary equivalent of Randall Bone.
who's your 7th defender then?

and so the games begin. 2 wings and no inside mid on the bench, but Greenwood is named on a wing!

Amazaging to think there is no WiPi or Powell in the side. We love ******* our picks

JHF is going to get some big minutes in the middle.

Bailey Scott is a bit of a round one specialist.

Averages 19 touches, 3 tackles and 2 goals in round one, compared to 11.5 touches, 1.8 tackles and 0.5 goals in not-round one.

I can take or leave Young. I don't dislike him as much as others and actually thought he played some okay footy at the start of last year when we were dreadful.

But no Tom Powell is genuinely baffling. It must be something behind the scenes that's being demanded of him that he's not quite doing at this stage and they think he needs a reality check. that's all i can think of it being. on talent alone, he's selected every week.

in Scott's case, running power, and in Young's case, flexibility to play wing and HBF. Can't play everyone
Scott you can make a case for but Young is downright terrible. I’d back Powell in a one on one with a 190cm forward over Young any day of the week. Young is fickle and really offers up nothing at all, either offensively or defensively.

sheesh, you would think our backline is full of stars from this carry on
Turner can’t kick
JZ falls over
Hall kicks it all over the place
lmac misses targets
and McKay is semi invisible and Corr completely invisible
walker must give away 2 goals each and every game
the other blokes are always injured

young should fit right in

Powell is smart and would use his body well, Young's best talent is looking rueful as he rakes his studs across the turf to indicate the mark after being soundly beaten in the contest.

My gut very much agrees with all this. Only hopeful sign I can dredge up is I remember in last year’s game against Hawthorn, I believe Young performed well and produced one of the most selfless acts of the season running back with the flight of the ball very late in the last quarter - possibly, ensuring we won the game. Am I dreaming that up or did it happen?

I'm one of the few to go into bat for Lachie. I actually rate him as a decent enough defender and his better games in the VFL have been as a defender, including on the last line of defence. The problem is that he plays wing at afl level and it does not suit him.
