The general consensus seems to be that we're in a unique position for where we've been over the last decade. We're not pressing for anything urgently, therefore, it is highly likely that we go for best player available regardless of position.

We could do with extra key position types but we can also do with more run and carry on the outside or a combination midfielder might be the go.

Hayes or Busslinger for a tall Or maybe a Hewett or a Hollands for a mid. Maybe we'll be lucky enough in a slider Will drop to us and then there's always a possibility that we trade down for the multiple selections.

Not nearly as open and closed as it has been
I'm kind of into it. Be interesting if we go into the night having zero idea of what will happen.

Ta Wic, yeah I get the vibe that the “best” player will be taken at 10, makes for interesting draft night viewing

Who would you take JAB, assuming we use pick 10?
For mine - it all depends on who is available and who isn't - would be equally happy with any of the players and equally not expecting much if any impact in year one or two. You are making a call on future body development and coping with the real world of no space or time and no superior running ability compared to developed AFL players.

Forced to choose - I like Gibney - good fast hands, hard at it and a decent kick - smart footballer looks nd plays a lot like Oliver....and not as runtish as most of the others and the list doesn't have enough genuine midfield depth coming through.

But they are all the same superior athletes compared to their same aged high school footballers - not a knock on any of them they are just what they are - high school footballers with potential needing time and development.

Hey, who doesn't like doing a good Top 10 list to pass the time. Mine, just on rating.

1. Harry Sheezel
2. Aaron Cadman
3. Will Ashcroft
4. Mattaes Phillipou
5. George Wardlaw
6. Bailey Humphrey
7. Elijah Tsatas
8. Jhye Clark
9. Ollie Hollands
10. The player i've got my eye on for my pick at 14 for Dees in the Phantom lol

Foxfooty.com.au understands the Blues have already reached out to the GWS Giants and inquired about a possible trade. The Giants – on top of Pick 1 – also hold Picks 15, 18, 19 and 31 in this year’s draft, with that suite of selections piquing Carlton’s interest.
Trading down I assume. 10 for 15 and 31? But not sure why Giant would do that unless they had a specific target at 20.

Reckon a lot of possible options will be gone by Pick 15, which could be 17-18 after FS and academy pics.

Unless someone like Hayes is still on the board - which may eventuate - I’m not too sure why we’re bothering.

It’s a really interesting one because if it is 10 for 15 plus 31 then for me it’s pretty risky as I think there are 13 non aligned players I’d be happy with at 10 so it’s probably gives us about a 50% chance to get someone who I atleast really rate.

Personally I’d love 18 and 19 and try and get two of Konstanty, Hotton, Allan, George, Burgiel or Cowan.

I would advise readers to take Ben Waterworth articles with a huge grain of salt imo. He is at the top of the queue in a big field of journo's who are employed to "I need a story to publish, what can i put in one" instead of "I have solid information, this is a good story" camp.

Makes John Ralph look like a rigid journalist and not a blancmange.

Actually, Johnny's getting a bit solider these days. Especially around trade time.

But Ben......he's a fodder dispenser at this stage of his career.

Ashcroft is the Walsh of this year's draft - the rest are a nice bunch of high school footballers.

Problem is by slipping down it is very possible some of your targets may be gone, l believe Allan will go by pick 12 and would not be surprised if Hotton is gone by 15, potentially a club may also gamble on George earlier than 20.

There is a good selection of talent that we should be able to get a long term quality player with our 1st pick, and then look more to the list key requirements at the next two picks.
Unless the Giants offered 15 & 19, l would not considering that deal as 31 is too far down to consider dropping five spots.

I have a top 13 who I really rate plus these six who I really like so we are guaranteed to get two of them. It totally comes down to how you rate them though but for me there are 19 guys I’d love to have
