So... is Murphy in replacing Rachele? Or is he in replacing Crouch?

Crouch is just having a rest, so if it's the latter then he should be back out next week. But if he's replacing Rachele, then he's likely in for the next month.

Or alternatively, is Draper replacing Crouch, and Murphy replacing him as the sub?

Guys you have it all wrong. This is great Nicks has selected Murphy. He was always going to get selected at some stage. So its great we got it out the way now. This way when he plays poorly, and he will, Nicks has to sit there and justify the selection and be accountable. Hopefully he is the sub.

Honestly, this is just an appalling selection. Personally, I cant see the justification in any sense. I would rather use Berry or Schoenberg if we need “AFL experience”. God, even move Milera forward and put Nank into his role, and bring in someone like Taylor or Bond as sub…anyone but Lachlan Friggin Murphy….

This is up there with that selection disaster against North in 2020..ironically on the GC…

What’s the issue? Murphy had a very good SANFL game, Pedlar didn’t. When Draper came on he went to take Rachele’s forward role. We’re looking for a forward replacement for Rachele, and Pedlar is realistically the only other option. Pedlar is long long past being given ‘senior minutes’ to prove himself, I just don’t think he’s up to standard. Cook is maybe the other one and was a dogs breakfast against probably the worst SANFL team going round.

I really don’t know why people are scratching their heads, Murphy played himself into selection.

Let’s step through this. So form is a determinant for selection? Explain how Milera was picked ahead of Nank then.

Murphy had a big game playing midfield, you expecting him in the middle or forward? If it’s middle how do you think he will go against Rowell and co? If it’s up forward, it’s not his forward form that got him in and we’ve had years to see what he does up forward.

Options, bring in Schoenberg and Draper share mid and forward. Or Taylor and Draper.

As for Pedlar that was a bit of dig at posters during the preseason who were adamant he’d be picked ahead of Murphy.

So it will be interesting to see how Taylor Walker will go playing off a 5-day break against Geelong next week after flying up and back from Queensland and playing in 28 degree heat with 80+% humidity.
