There is no doubt in my mind we played Murphy in the centre in the SANFL to pump up his numbers and justify his selection to the fans. Could you imagine us picking him as the next best guy if he was racking up 12 touches in our SANFL forward line? They've literally done everything to parachute him in

We’ve never used Murphy as a tagger.

He is not the obvious pick as sub. Play Schoenberg as the sub who is in form and can rack up the possessions or Milera who is lucky to hold his spot

How is it possible that Murphy is our next best waiting in the wings to cover for an injury or a rest? Surely 100+ games is enough to see what he has, or more importantly doesn't have. I'm just dumbfounded.

What’s the issue? Murphy had a very good SANFL game, Pedlar didn’t. When Draper came on he went to take Rachele’s forward role. We’re looking for a forward replacement for Rachele, and Pedlar is realistically the only other option. Pedlar is long long past being given ‘senior minutes’ to prove himself, I just don’t think he’s up to standard. Cook is maybe the other one and was a dogs breakfast against probably the worst SANFL team going round.

I really don’t know why people are scratching their heads, Murphy played himself into selection.

Murphy has proven himself to be a spud --- SPUD MURPHY --- at AFL level.
It's Nicks' job to find out who ELSE can stand up at the level, but none will if not given the chance.

3 weeks ago.

He plays as a full time mid so that when he returns ahead of players like Dowling or Taylor, he hasn’t had 12 touches. Playing midfield he can get 20 and it looks like he’s in cracking form down there.

Re the emergency list, we always name a backup ruck or KPF/ruck, there’s nothing to be read into it. Bond is next defender up, not sure why he’s ahead of Nank and The Spud is small fwd/mid cover. If we lose a mid, it can be covered by greater minutes from existing 22 and Spudley plays forward.

The emergencies seem very logical to me. And they’re not necessarily set in stone, there’s a fine for bringing in a player not listed. So if ROB misses, we might play McAndrew and wear the fine.

No. We should have, but that would involve leaving Tex and a few others out.

This is the worst thing, we are setting ourselves up to lose 2 in a row by not managing the likes of Tex in hot conditions.
