Oh cmon, if it’s a close game, a moment from a spud can make a huge difference
If you’re relying on the worst player in your team to win a close game then not enough of your stars have stood up. Our stars have been playing well for us to be 3-0, it’s got nothing to do with the bottom couple in the 22 (carried Milera last week for example).

OMFG. Is Nix on here and just gets amused by all the melts or something?

It's a philosophical thing more than a personnel thing.

Selecting Murphy is telling us loud and clear that Nicks hasn't changed and isn't up to it

exactly, those changes wont be what wins or loses us the game. The question is was it the best team Nicks could put on the park to give us the best chance of playing our best game. Murphy is not the answer.

I’m not losing my shit that quickly over it. If we can go 4-0 into Gather Round I’m not losing sleep over Murphy playing a game.
I don't trust him and wanted to see signs of change and improvement in his coaching

I’ve seen enough so far to not override all the positives so far with one negative.

What we've seen so far is what the improvement to our list has brought.

We're yet to be tested in the coaching department

I mean, they’ve managed guys like Tex and Rankine well and you can’t say they haven’t been tested. Them coaching well helps us thrash teams, all games are a test. Can’t bag them for negatives and then say they get no credit for the team being 3-0.

I hope he (Nicks) won’t give Murphy as much leeway as before. He is coaching for his career. He needs results.
Hopefully there will be “encouragement” to move on from him (Murphy) if he doesn’t perform. I’m sure they’ll give him a couple of games, but with adequate replacements, he’s on thin ice.

Should Tex be rested for this week?

Those two aren’t getting any mail haha, all just guessing at this point. It seems like Murphy is last in, so I hope he’s sub. Nank with 9 coaches votes to Murphy’s 4 last week is hopefully an indication of that…
Murphy can’t be sub.. he has a history of 0 touches in 4th quarters

Funny I’ve often heard your bottom 6 players are crucial to a teams premiership chances. Surely you have to?

They've been tested in the sense they've been asked to do some basics and executed them without embarassing stuff ups. Which I guess is an improvement on last year.

But let's be honest, our start to the season has seen us face soft match ups. He hasn't been truly tested yet.

Nicks will get credit if he keeps performing through the much more difficult stretch we're entering now. And I'm certainly not giving him the benefit of the doubt with his awful track record

The danger is getting too over excited and over rating the team as a result of winning with an absolute best 22 available. Most teams absolute best 22 should not only be competitive but will win against other teams. Its why upsets happen. We played our first 3 games with not a single injury. Now we have a test. Nicks has essentially ran back to the murphy well as soon as he had the opportunity. Not sure why. But if win or lose this game and Murphy has a traditional Murphy game then Nicks and Davis have to answer for that.

He’s such a nothing player.

About 11 touches, under half a goal a game. I guess it’s not so bad considering he doesn’t play in the last.

Nothing to lose by playing Taylor, Dowling, Pedlar, even Harry or Berry, shit I’d rather Cook get a last crack at it.

We’ll drop this game. Not because of Murphy directly, but because of the mindset that picks him. Don’t deserve to win.

That doesn’t actually make any sense. Of course you don’t want your list too skewed with just a couple of stars and the rest plodders, but 22 out of our 23 this week are quality AFL players and we have multiple stars/high level talents across each line. We aren’t winning the flag if we lose a couple of those stars, but we can definitely win a flag or make finals with the odd poor selection for the last player picked.

That’s because of the talent we have and he’s letting them attack, because if he went defensive again he wouldn’t have made rd 6.

Milera over Nank is classic Nicks, rush back an out form Senior favourite over an inform youngster who deserves his spot.

Winning minor round games against crap teams when you have this much talent isn’t a sign. Hinkley did it all the time but he wasn’t a good enough coach to do anything in finals and that’s the obvious concern with Nicks when we eventually play finals. He will pull some dumb moves and he’s incapable of making good ones.

Imagine going to your garage while the porsche is in getting repairs, seeing a bunch of other sports cars and thinking, nup, the holden camira is getting a run this week...what the actual f are they thinking

Of course it makes sense. They don’t say your top 22 win you a flag, doesn’t matter if your 23 is shit.

In a close game, having a dud in the side could make all the difference. Surprised your even arguing it.

Strange defence you’re using to accept a crap decision, but I suppose you had to find something.
