When the game is hanging in the balance, we need a player who will stand up and make the difference and lead the team to victory .
Our players just don't seem to have the mentality to do it. Look at that loss to Eagles late last year
Instead of wanting to own the moment, they are all overwhelmed by it.
And when the time comes to be that difference maker, it'usually results in a mistake that costs us dearly rather than a moment of inspiration.
Its quite bizarre. They are all talented , they should have inherent confidence, but they don't

Not looking positive for some stalwarts given Logue & Corr were dropped and IMO we lost the game by kicking ourselves out of it upfield. Strikes me that some of our "experienced" players aren't as critical as they think and that has just been displayed clearly.

Georgiades out marked him quite a lot especially up the ground, whereas Corr would have nullified the contest. We had much better defensive cohesion/transition after q1 so there wasn’t many one on ones - when that did happen Dawson generally lost the contest. I think there is a place for him in the side but as others have said it should be the third tall and not as one of the two KPDs.
You are over stating Corr's ability this year. At least KD had a moment the both Corr and Logue have completely stuffed this year, when he came off his man, made the contest and actually spoiled it

Logue has been miles off it. I think Corr is better 1:1 compared to Dawson but in terms of footy smarts Dawson probably has him covered. I’d still have both in the team.

Cracked in, that’s all you can ask for. Parker was fantastic. What has absolutely killed us is not giving the first option and instead trying to do too much at crucial times.

We missed some sitters but so did they (probably easier), so I don’t think that’s the difference. The difference was simply the fact that we couldn’t stand up in the second half of that first quarter, whereas we could in the third when they were dominating for large patches. Outside of that, I thought we got the best of them around the ball.

Never thought I’d say it, but holy smokes do we need to land Brayden Maynard.

Paul Curtis is having some season.

Be shocked if we get Maynard. He's just using us to get an acceptable deal from Pies.

Geez it's going to shit me when we don't turn up next week
If any week there's an excuse it's next Thursday coming off a 5 day break.

My expectations was very low and care was zero so I enjoyed the effort the boys brought today (even though is was crummy AF)

We seem to play well when there is no pressur… I mean expectations to win lol

Yes but the defensive pressure was definitely there. I was surprised when I saw the stat
Can't tackle if you get to the ball first. We did that more than Port.

Yeah. I just hope Clorko and Vineys think that way.

Bringing teams to our level, thats our only option
It's like the old saying - never argue with an idiot as they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Except

Never footy with a Norf team as they'll bring you down to their level and then let you experience a win

Something like that anyway...

For someone like Hardeman to not look out of place in his first full game in terms of team defense and even making some brilliant effort plays like going back with the flight to spoil in front of Georgiades which makes the efforts of Corr and Logue plain old embarrassing (perhaps not Logue's fault though tbf, the acl might've destroyed his confidence, athleticism and agility).

I can see the kids being able to execute the game plan much faster than the vets who have shown time and time again that they're simply aren't up to the task.

Very very frustrating that Hardeman hasn't been playing consistently. I really like him

Never truer statements.

Larkey has a get out of jail card. Off day infront of goal. Took some really good contested marks. Captain opposite today. Contested marking..
Larkey is just frustrating. Gets away with a lot simply because he's usually a good shot.

The real frustration for mine is he keeps wanting to get the ball out the back, but has no idea how to protect his space on the rare times he actually has some.

Agree entirely if their measure is career achievement and success. But what if the measure is lifestyle and resources and other opportunities?

Say spending your twenties being paid great money to stay fit and looking good and building followers on Instagram, making contacts for future career or business or influencer opportunities in any field, with time and resources for your passion in cooking or art, or a side hustle or two. All while punching well above weight compared to your old non-AFL mates in the romance stakes, as well as watching those mates have to live a starker economic reality.

Can’t really blame these guys for looking self satisfied in the modern McJob , high cost economy and low trust society their generation lives in.

Probably inevitable it ended up like this in signing them up to these long contracts.

I have a question

And this is not about Toby Pink. Please consider Corr or Logue or even Wil Dawson as an alternative if you desire.

What does Kal Dawson give us?
Seriously.

He's not an experienced KPD. Played loose at Willy.
He's older than Toby Pink so it's not as if we are playing the kids.
He's not as strong as any of them, except maybe Wawson.
And he has no cohesion whatsoever with Comben.

Someone explain to me what I'm missing with Kallan Dawson's selection after that performance tonight.

Thanks
How many did Georgiadis kick?
