Watching the replay Maxy does his hammy when straining to kick with 16 to 17 mins left in the third. No idea really how to “read” these things in terms of hobbling and iced up. At worst hopefully a 2-3 week hammy as didn’t look at the more serious end.

Re 2023 draft, Curtin could certainly end up the best. There was talk about him being potentially the second rated player in that draft year. Certainly a true unicorn.

Added to 2020, TT surely will be the best player there without checking the draft again.

Let’s hope Draper also fulfils the chat that he was the number one rated youngster in the land at the start of his draft year.

Can’t complain about Rash but that top 4 in 2021 was extraordinary (JHF, Darcy, Callaghan and ND). That win late in the year clearly did cost us Callaghan…

The value of being crap, for a few years and having access to elite talent AND not buggering the pick

Re Powa fan base I love how many are turning on the entire club with some saying don’t trade for NWM now as their entire list is broken (which it really is besides a handful of elite players at the top. It’s similar to Blues)
West Coast rated Curtin as the second best player in the draft and really wanted to get him. They offered GWS their 2024 first rounder for pick 8, but they did the deal with us as they wanted a first rounders in the 2023 draft.
WC then came to use with their 2024 first rounder for pick 8, which we knocked back.
Most people thought it would be pick 1 again, so both WC and Adelaide thought he was better than anyone in the 2024 draft.
On top of WC and Adelaide, both Essendon and Hawthorn were throwing good offers at GWS to try and get Curtin.

I'm a bit sad that Draper hasn't played more this year, but he has been put back by the inclusion of Peatling and the lack of injuries.
However, I think he should replace Taylor in the team.

My popcorn is ready for this
Yes, me too. I'll watch their decline with sheer joy.

I had a double-hit last night; firstly thrilled by the huge win under a waterfall
AND
from my schadenfreude at their drowned-rat misery after the game which has lasted all day.
Fkem.
because I don’t think Josh Carr is the answer either.. I actually don’t know what is for them…
I'm ignorant and apathetic on the issue:
--- I don't know, and I don't care, well, except for wanting them to fail, miserably.

Just heard TripleJ's Hottest 100 Aus songs #1 song is NTUA ..... hope the Poopies get some comfort from that...

It's more about how the game has changed with an emphasis on scoring off turnover, than it is about Crouch as a footballer .....Crouch simply isn't suited to the transition game, he's a clearance beast .....and most sides have moved on from that emphasis, particularly as ball-up numbers are decreasing, and the 6 x 6 x 6 means speed off the mark by your mids is critical

The last two times Matt Crouch was on a team who was strong on transition (noting we were 1st for scoring off turnover in both 2017 and 2023), he saved his career and won an AA spot.

History has stated the exact opposite, Crouch has suited transition teams a lot better than teams who are reliant on winning the inside battle. Even they need guys who can come in and win clearances, and Matt has typically disliked having his style cramped.

Not sure many would have assumed we could be in such a rich vein of form whilst still playing a number of marginal players - Cook, Pedlar, Taylor and Jones. I suppose Cumming and Rachele (hopefully) auto replace perhaps Jones and one of the other lads. Will be interesting to see who holds their place.

Why wouldn't we be? Every team has marginal players.

Your marginal players not being exposed is the difference between a gun coaching group and a middling one. We're protecting Taylor/Cook/Pedlar well due to our structure (well, that and our weakest players are forwards which is a lot easier to hide).

If he's that good ....why didn't Clubs come-a-knocking when his Free Agency meant a free hit ?

We played him injured and out of form so long that he was untouchable. After he went in and got surgery, healed, had a good stint getting fitness back he came back and we benefited.

He was damaged goods when his contract was up. We also insisted on playing him and Laird in the same stoppage. For slower accumulator inside mids to thrive, you need some pace and skill at the hand-ball recieve. When he was out of form, we were playing into his weaknesses.

He wasn't picked up by any club in 2 FA years because teams actively play through him on rebound and has no hurt factor. Other clubs don't rate him, that is why he wasn't sought after, it wasn't because he was playing injured, there are way too many examples of players injured, still getting grabbed in their FA year (Tom Doedee for one from us).

He has played a handful of good games in 5 years of football and based on that, people think he should waltz into a team sitting second on the ladder.
