Only three more games of the year left, we may win one of them.

There needs to be changes at the end of the season including coaching staff in particular the backline coach.

The issue I have I have no faith we can trade or draft a decent tall in the backline.

Until we can fill that need we will always be average.

Too much left to too few - and the few being a handful of young players doing the heavy lifting.

What didn't help was a substandard game plan which puts a premium on retaining the ball, going backwards and refusing to use the corridor.

They had fewer disposals, went longer and more directly. That's the game right there.

Bad handballing is bad football. Wilphil spoke about this as a first year player but it just has not improved. Handpasses to the feet, looping death passes, things that you try to work on with U11’s.
Ball use in general. It's odd that they haven't yet worked it out after so many years.

I watched the last 2 minutes clip again and I cannot understand why Hall was gifted a 50 after being paid a fairly soft, but understandable free.

But why was he allowed to play on and kick the goal instead of taking the set shot and kicking straight over the mark since he had the kick after the siren?

Any news on Souvs knee?
I would love to know how the 4 ****sticks through Camanitti dropping on top of Larkey well after the mark wasn’t a 50?

They would have probably only given us a 5 metre penalty.

Now we all know the square is 50m, but LDU was given 50 inside the centre square and amazingly the mark was set inside the centre square. How dumb can these idiots be?

Now I know why they pay 10m kicks as 15m…….. because they are *********.

We must be one of few clubs they enforce that rule on. Good to see they double downed with a holding the ball today after calling not 15 to show their true intent.

Until someone in the club makes a song and dance about the constant shit umpiring we receive, keep expecting it to happen.

I saw we were second last in the free kick differential ladder this year, no surprise given how poorly we have been umpired all year.

Maybe it'd be easier to wear a loss like this if it didn't feel like this is our ceiling - had an off day, had a lapse, gave up a good opportunity to win, disappointing but there's always next week. But we've seen this before, and thought it signified a rung on the development ladder before, and it simply wasn't, because conditional effort remains a problem for too many of our players.

You could visibly see the difference our application makes; more conscious shepherding from our side today than I've seen in years, which is unquestionably a positive, and the forward handball to run the ball through the corridor had more purpose to it than usual too, just came undone due to the same persistent skill issues (same with the forward line in general, seemed like a minor improvement on actually having active movement ahead of the ball). Some great moments too - Banch's mark, Parker's smother. But while the defensive breakdowns weren't as glaring as last week, it seemed to me that the poor second and third quarters happened in part because our game relies on the extra numbers we like to keep around the ball applying consistent pressure, and it simply isn't consistent. This is why I find LDU to be our most frustrating player - we saw his strengths today with the burst work at stoppage and even (despite it not always being clean) some strong link-up play, but then when the ball needs to be kept hemmed in, he's flat-footed and flailing instead of committing to the task, the ball gets free and the rest of the side gets exposed. He's not the only one at fault for this kind of thing, but it's bewildering he's made it this far, and been valued the way he has, with such glaring gaps in his game.

First half was ultimately a wash - game was on our terms in the first, their terms in the second, neither team took full advantage. But while the comeback effort in the last quarter is okay, certainly better than the capitulating alternative we've also amply displayed, we just shouldn't be finding ourselves needing to try and pull off a four goal comeback in a game like this - it takes more effort to pull back the deficit against a team staunchly holding onto their lead in the last than it does to apply enough consistent work earlier in the match not to fall so far back.

That's where I think this one becomes a disappointing performance rather than an unlucky close loss in a 50/50 contest - once they pulled a few goals clear in the third, it became theirs to lose and, even though it very nearly could've happened, it rarely felt like we made ourselves all that dangerous a comeback threat. As I said, maybe if we had a higher ceiling and this was a down week, it'd be easier to accept as part of the 'non-linear' development process; coming after a performance as pathetic as last week's, it's not a disaster but nor is it enough.
Hopefully traded out when the Tassie AFL team enter the competition. They will need senior mature body mids. Tassie AFL team, their first draft in 2027? I think. LDU, Simpkin, Zurharr and Caleb Daniel, all outta the club. Tassie AFL side join comp in 2028. All middle of the road players but high in seniority at NMFC.

3rd was the problem
Getting it out of the backline
2 OOB and turned over a couple more
Just eye wateringly unbelievably bad footy from execution to the whole pressure aspect of holding them when they were getting a lot of it
Completely winnable game of football that we just do not compete for 4 qtrs 100%

If you're calling for Payne to come in over Harvey, you're clearly related.
Yeah righto muscles.

Payne 6.2 in the VFL.
Harvey 0.1 and a soul destroying turnover late.

I don't care who Payne comes in for - it should probably be Konstanty - but let's not pretend Harvey is some great undroppable messiah

Comben kicked the ball away
