Mega Thread Nick Daicos - Can he be the GTWEB? Part 2

Can someone remind me if he got ragdolled twice or three times at crucial stages of the PF? I can’t recall. And was it zero kicks he had in the crucial last quarter? Or none? Or nada? Or zip? Bahahaha.

He’s a terrific player loved by media and umpires … but when he’s named in the best 2 x players on the ground in a final when the game is at its hottest (hasn’t happened yet in 7) maybe let me know and I’ll show some interest.

Can someone remind me if Dusty did absolutely anything of note in his first 4 seasons?

Daics is miles ahead of the pack... regular podium finishes in all the awards, solid finals record and a Bradman-like domination of Brownlow voting

We've never seen anything like it 😲

Dusty did nothing in his first 7 seasons of footy.

Dick Reynolds probably had his measure.

It’s an interesting question … do Brownlow votes provide a decent guide to who the best players are?

Cripps won with 45 votes. Rowell won with 39 votes.

In 2025 Cripps got 19 votes, TT got 20 votes and starting AA mid and Dogs B&F Ed Richards got 11 votes.

Daicos’s votes have coincided with the votes awarded becoming a joke.

I mean he’s getting ‘record numbers’ when Josh Daicos and Darcy Cameron are beating him to the B&F. Haha 😛
Brownlow is won by being adjudged BOG the most often. Pies bnf is usually won by the player who is most consistently good. They hand out tons of votes not just a 3 2 1.

Cameron got his arse handed to him on a plate twice by Gawn, who received 14 coaches votes from their 2 head to head meetings, and yet he's rewarded with the B&F ? Yes, it's only 2 games, but when you're thoroughly beaten twice by one of your contemporaries you shouldn't be the club champion.

So, I am pleasantly surprised that Bench Boy didn't salute, notwithstanding his aversion to a hard ball.

Uh huh

Geez isn't your club on 🔥 😆 at least you've still got 35yo Gawn 🤣

Cameron and Gawn play 50 metres away from each other for the majority of games.

Thats a bit gutless of Cameron.
Yep. The players and not coaches decide their positioning... Rucks pick up the other ruck when they get ahead of the ball - but usually they separate and both play a kick behind the play.

What we did against Gawn was quite interesting last time - Cameron was making himself a target ahead of the ball in the corridor to try to get Gawn to cover him and stop protecting down the line. Gawn was too smart.

And yet, the Pies went 2 from 2 against Melbourne.

The strategy obviously worked.

Is there any way we can get 3 home and away games against you next year?

I find it pretty remarkable that given all the fawning over Daicos that he isn’t even rated 1st by his own club at the B&F.

It’s clear that he has become very overrated. It’s more of a wake up call I think, stop peddling stats that lead into all these player ratings when quite obviously we are seeing stats grossly overrated against impact. I think he is an excellent player but I don’t think he is anywhere near as good as people have made him out to be. I mean, even his club thinks he isn’t the best and fairest.

Might be time to kill this thread I think…

Yeah, if it wasn't for the players, coaches, umpires, and every media outlet consistently voting him as the best, or one of the best, players in the competition, you could be right...
