This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Looks like we are taking 4 picks to draft

10,22,59,66

Only trade done during pick trade period was WCE giving up pick 53 to Dogs for F4

It's awesome having pick 10 but I also love us having pick 22 as it's at the perfect point in the draft where teams just above there seem to reach for talent whist letting more obvious + proven talent (albeit at junior level) slip through. I'd feel even more excited about it if it wasn't Geelong + Brisbane just above us but having the * right before us is great especially if they put waaaaaay too much though into it and fcuk it up. We all just need to let MM and the team cook.

You're right bugs but, I also think we're a few spots off from getting a really good talent as the likes of NHH Marsh Philippou and even Greeves types will be gone by our pick. Wonder if we could do something with either of lions (17) or dogs(14) to get up into the teens.

Would love if we could end up with a combo of Cumming, Lindsay, Grlj or Dovaston and pair them with Phillipou, Hibbins-Hargreaves, Greeves, Latrelle or Marsh.

I think everyone is sleeping on Dovaston. I think people are blinded by his height, and I think Melbourne will take him in the top ten. His skills, defensive application, athleticism and ability to kick bags of goals in big games would have him a firm top 3 pick if he was about 4cm taller. As it is, everyone presumes he’s too small to become a mid so better draft a massive unit who can spin out of traffic nicely and then turn it over 9/10 times. Lachy’s draft profile literally has his only improvements listed as:

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Goalkicking accuracy
  • Size

STRENGTHS:

  • Agility
  • Consistency
  • Defensive pressure
  • Scoreboard impact
  • Speed
  • Work rate

I’d love to pick him up. I think he is a prototype high-impact player.

Improvement size? Hopefully not talking about his height, otherwise not sure how you improve that lol

When I first did my deep dive, I had Doveston at our first pick. He'll play from first game onwards. Puts pressure on the opposition as well as capable of winning his own ball. Would be a huge get. Reason why I haven't included him lately is because I'm pretty sure the Dee's are eyeing him at 8! If not, yes, grab him with our first pick.

Or we may live trade 10 + 22 to Dees for 7/8 + 37 giving them access to Pickett at 22 and another young talent. They would probably ask us to bid on Dean to give them access to the 9th best player in the open draft meaning they only slide 1/2 spots.

Pick 37 is basically a throw away in this draft. So, we only get one proper pick at 7/8. I wouldn't go near that. I believe we won't be that interested in the drafts upcoming as hopefully we finish top 4 plus Tassie plus academy players sucking up all the good talent before we get a chance. What does that mean for us?
Unless we're sure about either of Butters or Walsh, I say we go all in on this draft . Keep 10 and try to move 22 up somehow.

You can do leg lengthening nowadays. An idiotic idea and you're out of action for 12+ months. As far as I know, no professional athletes have had it done, though some may have had it done as corrective surgery for unequal leg lengths.

Won't 37 come in to late 20s / early 30s with all the matched bids?

This.

Anything after pick 20 is a lottery in this draft.

Agree with this scenario. If Butters etc are off the table we can use our F1 to move 22 up to a player we want. Hopefully player we want may fall to 22 without using f1 to move up. Thinking pick 10 to get farrow if possible and thinking if it dont work out ie homesick or go home desire to use to satisfy Eagles in an expectation of the Reid going home factor. Hope this makes sense

We are crying our for some more defensive pressure across half back.

If he can do this and win his own ball / kick goals that's a very handy addition to our team 👍

I actually think two of them will be available at our pick

That’s why I like Oskar Taylor he’s defend first then win and go high speed high evasiveness and precise kicking.

Death, taxes and Essendon fcuking up top 10 draft picks.
You always feel they want to draft superstars and unicorns, and then expect them to flourish in a swamp of unprofessional plodders.

Edit: I think they’ll draft Robey, and it will become the most Essendon pick ever. Can mark anything, looks a million bucks when his side has momentum, but the bloke cannot hit a target.

Chinese students in the US often go home over summer break to get this done.

When I first watched Gattica I figured the procedure was science fiction.

Then I met a physiotherapist who was doing it to fix a leg length difference that looked like a functional discrepancy to me. That person played sport too - albeit at a low level.

Insane. To think people do this and see only upside...

Caddy will be ok but agree they are not great at talent identification. Their preference is for talent imprisonment.

They often draft highly rated players. They love to get a "A" rating on their draft haul. (You know, the things that really matter, ha ha).

They just have no idea how to develop talent.

Getting drafted there must feel like a kick in the guts for a kid with potential.
