This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Do we have any remaining list spots? Or is SSP period done now? Thought the Will Phillips stuff would’ve been down by now if we were keen
Definitely 2 rookie spots available...

We lost 7 players, and have gained 5...while elevating Blanck

2 good options I think. With a fit side they don't play but I'd imagine we'd rather have McLaughlin play a few games in an injury crisis than an 18 year old.

Similar with the wing spot if Morrison, Dambrosio, Weddle go down Stanley is a depth option over LeRay who will take time. Box hill last year had think McCabe, Ryan and BMac all playing a bit of wing when DeClase was out.

We've been absolutely screwed here.

The AFL's football operations team crunched the population data across the country before deciding on the new zones, with a 'score' being determined based on multicultural and Indigenous population within the region, as well as multicultural and Indigenous participation and current participation.

Yes Box Hill has a large multicultural population, but not one that will be playing AFL football. Shocking use of data we definitely should have argued against.

Before you say I'm being racist, Box Hill has been multicultural for at least 30 years and is yet to produce a multicultural AFL player. I think there is a fair amount of evidence it is not a fruitful talent breeding ground.

I'm not from Melbourne, so forgive my ignorance, but on the provided colour map it still appears that we have quite a large area? Pretty much the same as before minus one small part?

Will depend on the resources HFC invests to uncover this talent, hence the term NGA. If we are waiting for it to fall on our laps like earlier, won't happen.

Better to have access to the large pop and go to work.

I think you may be looking at it wrong.

The way I have always interpreted it is that we’ve got a very rich area to identity talented multicultural athletes, with the single goal of getting them into the Dandenong stingrays or gippsland power system. Both those junior teams do a terrific job of development, with likes of Treloar, Lynch, Petracca, Heppell, Roughie coming from one of the two.

It’s on us now to find those quality athletes. Admittedly, we’ve done a terrible job in the past but it’s something judged through a 5-6 year time horizon, I suppose.
