I only saw pieces and bits as I was trying to impress clients in a corporate box but you should have heard the collective banging on the glass when Logue nailed that bomb in Q2. And Trenbath's arm reach was like an octopus with its giant testacles was the cherry on pop.

I couldn't help but think back to the game against Freo in 2024.

Similar circumstances in terms of dominance, but we just couldn't put the score on the board. Next thing you know, we're down by 3 goals after we had 7-8 kicked on us. At various times, Port threatened to do the same thing but the absolute relentless pressure and strong defensive application meant we could keep them at bay. FWIW, when they got within 25 points, I didn't feel nervous (very unusually), nor did the crowd, encouraging the roo boys to finish the job. Port were extremely lucky for it to not be a 10+ goal loss.

So effectively, we've gone from getting done in a quarter and never being able to wrestle it back, to comprehensively beating up an opposition with relentless pressure and a defensive edge that makes teams around us very, VERY nervous.

Honestly? Bring on West Coast. Come at us. See what you got.

COmben and yes giant testicals my mistake.
Is this an example of “lowering the ante”? 🤣 it would be a good experiment to see where things would end up if we kept going down this path…

“Play your ****en role” is this years motto.

Pre-season build up, into Larkey’s pre-game speech, into the win.
They’ll all have ****en bought in now.

We’re ON!
Dare I say it, Nick comes across as “presidential” in his role as captain:-

Articulate ✔️
Impact on field ✔️
Inclusive ✔️
Drive ✔️
Presence ✔️

His long arms appeared to wrap around the whole team in the dressing room huddle and bring them closer together.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man!

Darcy Moore led the Pies to a flag along those lines.

How well balanced do the forwards look with Trembath and the Dove on deck
How good is the backline with a fit Log and Chom an improved pink Parker channeling Hodge with Kerch and fos the hell out of there

Curtis even kicks 2 of those 4 he is serious A grade talent getting closer to elite
5 on the bench is good for nmfc because Parker darling get a rest and the young blokes can be swapped more

Interesting comments from Ports Jase Burgoyne
Said the group didnt show enough respect to North and didn't expect us to play like that.

Drank their own bathwater and they are nowhere near as good as they think they are.

which is why they haven't taking a step up over the years with what has been a pretty handy list

They don't have high enough internal standards

They certainly don't have a no dickheads policy.......

I think Carr and his crew were buoyed by belting an under manned Wet Toast in the last practice game. 10 mins into the 1st QTR they are 2 goals up and thinking which pub in Alberton are we having beers at tonight.

You can’t do that in the modern game and expect the 4 points will just happen. When the Kangas went bang bang bang either side of Half Time, they could not change and adapt and it was good night Irene.

Carr coming out and saying it was his coaching is just protecting his players. Let’s hope Porta rip * a new one on the weekend in a highly physical match so they are softened up for next week.

Clarko needs to make sure there is not one ounce of complacency in the team this weekend. We rarely go on as favourites, and should play even harder than last week to justify where the bookies have placed us.

It's very strange even if only a once off to deliver a wake up to someone else playing football delusion pocket billiards.

I just don't buy that excuse from them though. Ok, cool you got jumped early but they had a half of football to claw their way back and still capitulated.

Based on the four quarter effort and stats, they were beaten across all areas. It happens. You move on. But making the excuse that there wasn't enough respect paid to the opposition sounds like the Geelong 2007 game, where we won at the bowling alley with Bomber Thompson lamenting his side's effort. The difference being that Geelong side are heaps more talented than the current Port mob. It's like they haven't learnt their lessons from the countless spankings inflicted on them when Hinkley was coach.

They were just beaten fair and square. Which happens. You get beaten and you strive to improve or respond. Don't make excuses.

Does anyone remember seeing a Simpkin or McDonald pre-game speech? I dont. Thats the best bit of footage coming out of NMFC if that is the end result. Bring it on
