Under 23s trial game between Port & Crows

... Mead looks like worthwhile to draft ....
There was talk somewhere on this board recently that we are looking to 'father and son' his younger brother Jackson next year. So would be a nice story if we had a rookie spot or something for Mitchell too. Tradition could use a top-up at Port right about now.

Gee I wonder what media there is around this game...and then. We don't exist. Plus he wasn't even good lmao.

PORT ADELAIDE’s young players have shown signs that the future appears bright by running over the Adelaide Crows in an under 23 trial game at Thebarton Oval.
The Power fought back from 34-points down in the third quarter to take the match with Willem Drew and Riley Bonner starring in the turnaround.
Each of the Power’s draftees, except the ill Riley Grundy, showed glimpses of their talent with Xavier Duursma and Zak Butters among their side’s best.

Article surprised me because I thought Brad Crouch was pretty average today. But maybe I wasn't watching him closely enough..
Drew had him covered comfortably, the goals were just a nice bonus from him too.

I noticed Brad Crouch a few times outside of the consistent close ups of him on the field eg: "LOOK CROUCH ISN'T INJURED WATCH"

‘‘Twas a good draft by the looks of it

My thoughts.

- Drew - quality and clean inside. Could be a real bolter. Should play round 1.
- Duursma the best of the draftees. Hard worker. Good size. Butters and Rozee also good.
- Great to see Broady back. Steady and a beautiful kick as always.
- Ladhams and Amon will be delisted this year.
- Burton was a bit dissapointing. Wasteful with the footy, but did kick a good goal.
- Cox was very lively.
- Marshall will be better with better delivery.
- Amon gets plenty of it but is still wasteful.
- Pudney and Fredericks also showed good signs.
- We got slaughtered in the ruck yet still won our fare share of footy. Lycett and Ryder are going to be so impotant this year.
- I already hate McHenry, but heck he is a great little player.
- Fogarty is the next McCartin.

I liked the new game plan. Quick movement and more risks. Nothing but positives from me.

I reckon from today the following are a genuine round 1 chance - Drew, Duursma, Rozee, S Gray, Butters, Burton, Broady, Marshall, Howard., Farrel

Hewett's photos must be spectacular. Four years for what?

Cox has some presence. If he stops those short passes he could be a player.

Duursma and Butters are going to be fun to watch for the next decade.

Rozee is classy but he is out of my super coach team!

Loved Broady and Drew.

Was impressed with Drew. Really impressed actually. Kid is big too.

Marshall struggled a bit playing as the go to but when the real stuff starts he'll be second or even third banana which suits his style more.

Dougal still concerns me.
Dooogz was drafted on the back of his CHF play as a junior. Great set shot.
Trouble is we need him in defence. Letting Logan Austin go for virtually nothing was dumb.
Mind you he was frustrated with KH and the gold pass shite he's been renown for.
Think it was Bass who stamped his papers.
I doubt Todd is ever gunna be a high possession player like some-one said tailor made as 2nd or 3rd tall banana

Sounds like it was a good hit out for a trial match, and moving forward, the new players, particularly those from interstate should get a fair bit out of a win in their first game in club colours. :thumbsu:
Sounds like you missed seeing it well on Port's website there's reference to it being replayed soonish
