Watching tonight's game, fitness may be an issue.

Are we fit?

I mention this since some scribe inferred recently that we were not!

Jones body language hinted to me that he didnt seem to be too confidant in his fitness, despite his words.

Likely a couple of their mids are underdone

Facebook memory from a Melbourne game 5 years ago. Not really related to this game, but I found it quite funny.

He's actually got a intellectual disability that bloke.

Dees will have another good year. Our best hope is to catch them while they're a bit rusty, and some of their mids can be wasteful at times. If they ever tighten up their ball use (or prefer Oliver over Viney & Brayshaw for their No. 1 midfielder) they'll be unstoppable.

We're an unknown quantity at this stage. Glad that most have written us off. On t'other hand, with all our new players it's unlikely that it'll all come together in Round 1. But it might ...

Could be anywhere from 8-goal win to 12-goal loss.

Thats pretty much our only real chance.

I'd say a realistic possible margin spread is more like Port by 20 to Melb by 80.

I expect we'll lose by somewhere around 4-5 goals, and probably be comprehensively outplayed, but we'll kick a few when the game is done and dusted like we did against the Crows, which will make the scoreboard look a little more flattering than it should.

BUT.....

As you said, let's just hope they're off their game and a bit rusty. Miracles do happen.

All 4 teams so far have looked very rusty,. Tho' perhaps the humidity wouldn't help the ball-handling, and it's going to be no less humid tomorrow. So the 5th & 6th teams to play are likely to follow the rusty trend. Just have to hope they're a lot more rusty than us.

To win we mostly need to frustrate them in midfield. Throw the big bodies/big armspans in (SPP/Drew), not to knock players over, but to block off quick give options for their ballwinners. It'll force a kick and hope from a team that isn't the most accurate by foot and then we can intercept at half back. Then its all about deliberate use of the ball on counterattack - Rozee please.

Wouldn't read much out of Jones' body language. Super camera shy. But he'll be blowing hard late, given he's a vet and didn't play JLT. Won't play too much midfield this season, expect to see him in Lewis' half back role tomorrow if he's out.

Oliver is definitely our #1 clearance mid.

Does Jack Viney know that?
You'd hope so. Viney is a great player, but his body is a concern and he can't kick. Oliver really can do it all.

Will be wet and slippery

We are out to $4.65
That's absolutely outrageous
Already got on us at $3.45 and loved those odds

Will be putting another $50 on

Ridiculous odds for first game of the year. Even if you aren't at all confident it is worth a small dabble.
