love how carried away the pies are after round 2. Going too make for some great reading if they don't get near it this year.

Love how normality has been restored. After 37 years of embarrassing mediocrity the Tigers managed to sneak a flag in 2017. Also had an impressive 2018, until the Pies pricked their bubble and that of their arrogant supporters.

Expect them to now slide back down the ladder and become a handy, middle tier team. They’ve been well and truly worked out, plus it looks like their charmed run with injuries has ended.

Does it enter the thought pattern that a player may not be elite, but is critical to our structures? Half our injuries were in the same area of the ground!
Yes. Does it enter your mind that if a player is elite and critical to structure it might make more of an impact?

As soon as it happened I thought scaffoid. I did a similar thing and his reaction was same as mine like christ that hurts but it doesn't feel too bad.
A difficult bone to heal properly as well.
I’ve done it twice breaking my fall

I'm not using it as an excuse. We dont have depth to cover them. It's not an excuse I'm calling a spade a spade. Not sure how anyone could replace an Adams or De Goey, most other teams dont have the equivalent level players. How else do you want me to acknowledge it?

We have a number of battlers that our elite talent can cover, but not without them. The difference is we have lost those elite players. The other injury losses that are being compared to them aren't the same quality.

Someone compared losing Rance to losing Dunn, like come on? Seriously?

I know we will struggle this year without them, I'm not sure why it's considered an excuse to admit that.

[satire over]
Some Richmond supporters needed to gain some perspective for once. Don't even attempt to attain any sort of sympathetic high ground from this.
What's the appropriate response? I have said we have lost some elite players now and that will expose our lack of depth and role players. I'm not sure what I am "excusing" and I'm certainly not asking for sympathy, we've had a better 2 year performance than any other club. That's just what happened. Anything else you would like me to cover?

I think this is fair. I won’t criticise you for this stance because it is entirely reasonable. However, when Tiger supporters were criticising pie fans for saying this last year those Tiger supporters were extremely arrogant and baiting.

I know supporters troll each other, no doubt.
If you can find a post where I've ever said injuries are irrelevant and they don't have an impact, I'll stand corrected.
My only point is some injuries have more significance than others. And with Rance and Riewoldt, we have just about copped the two worst injuries we could have on our list, for an extended period of time.

The prelim final 2018 & the start of this season are a nice bookend pair of games for me:)

Richmonds arrogance in forgetting to turn up to the 2018 Prelim must still stick in the Tigers craw.

Anyway the new rules will take some time to bed in for teams. It appears to make Richmonds 'swarm' tactics less effective at this stage. They will miss their key defender. Sad for the Tigers & the game overall to lose such an important player.

Add Jack for a bit as well, but, it’s the same rules for everyone so no excuses. It’s R2.
I hope all Collingwood supporters wore their 2018 prelimiership t shirts last night.

Credit to you for not hiding like some of your pals

2 surprising results in a row hey

I cannot believe this comment from our coach.

You play one ruck against Collingwood our of all teams and then say “two rucks just isn’t who we are”. Only reason why we aren’t a two ruck team is because we don’t have viable options on our list at the moment, not because we are better without it.

Actually I thought that was strange too, if you look at the GF wc had the luxury of two quality rucks nullify Grundy and out ruck (around the ground) Cox.

Thought Balta would've lined up for sure (yeah I know he's not a pure ruck)............. especially when you have a key forward doing centre bounces.

I’ve never said otherwise. Just using the arguments Richmond nuffies used last year.

It was a ridiculous decision, and although we would have lost anyway, I honestly think we didn't even give ourselves our best chance to win by not selecting Balta.

Our small pressure harassment strategy worked for 2 years, yeh we lost a prelim last year but it happens, we still went 19-5 that shows the gameplan still worked.

But the game evolves and changes every year, and what worked in 2017 might not be the best tactic of 2019. It's time for Dimma to be a little less stubborn and turn to plan B. It might actually have to be plan C with Riewoldt and Rance out, but he needs to try something.

I'm sure the Tiges 'In the bag' 2018 premiers Tshirt run are in the back of the cupboard. ;)

I dont care how often you make it. It's so often a loss. You've won 2 flags since 1959.

Adams, Whe, Wells, Sier, Dunne aren't close to the same level of quality as Rance, Riewoldt, Houli and Caddy. In fact some of those players actually played VFL yesterday. Sad news about Dunne, but no one would compare him to Rance's quality.

We've got underdone players too, everyone does early in the season.
Wells at somewhere close to his best is clearly a few rungs above Houli and Caddy. Strange comment.

Whoa, whoa! Let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater here. Pressure is still king we were still providing it but also dominating possession through surgical transition.

There were times where rich managed to cause turnover through pressure, just don't think was up to usual standard. Rusty perhaps?

Maybe not you in particular, as I believe injuries are a legitimate excuse as to why a team doesn't perform as well, but many Richmond fans last year didn't seem to acknowledge this in any of the H&A games last year where we had injuries that affected our structure considerably.

You're a good bloke and defending your team as you should. I'm probably not replying to the right person in particular anyway.
