It meant a whole lot in that regard. It was very pleasing to see Pyke bolt down to the bench and take control.Abs
Absolutely meant nothing to our abilities v decent teams. Hopefully we got something out of it though. Maybe a little bit of confidence to take the game on and some individuals gaining confidence.
Also seeing Himmelburg get another game and Rob building each game.
Was at the game, keeping a close eye on Lukosius. Was keen to see what we'd be getting in 18 months time. What do people think of Lukosius?
Smooth mover, excellent skills. Quite agile.
Don't think he'll be taking many contested marks in the near future.
Should GC get him in the weights room so he can compete better - like we did with Tex? Or should they develop him as that roaming half forward who covers the ground and is too agile for opponents his height? Asking for a friend.

I'm going to leave this here. Considering the amount of possessions that rob has that are contested he has very high de every week. Went at 100 this week with 13 contested possessions
Pure, pure class. Play him as a winger or outside mid, with a view of eventually turning him in to a Bontempelli type tall mid who can go forward. The game slows down for him. What do people think of Lukosius?

For me and the people around us it seemed unnecessary, Eddie had just been carried off the ground and then had to turn around and walk back out on the ground for the interview.
Eddie does plenty of interviews and it just seemed to draw the whole thing out. They could of done the presentation at the after match or done it while the other players were handing out footballs. It all just became a bit awkward in my opinion.
I have heard he is keen to take over running our Aboriginal programs.
A bit like Paul Vandenberg for Port.

Yep, since when is 150 games worthy of a presentation? It was an embarrassing and unnecessary insertion of himself into the situation. Felt like the club wanted to bring some of the good will back to itself, so it hijacked the moment. That he insisted on doing the same thing for Brodie Smith's 150 games was embarrassing- that's not a major milestone at all.
It would have helped if he had gotten the details right (best trade evaaaaaaa!!!!!!), but it wouldnt have helped that much. The last thing I wanted to see after a rare home win was a reminder of our club's putrid culture.
Agree with all of thatI don't know why people thought Murphy was so great. I didn't think he was good watching it live, and after watching the replay am still of that opinion. Did people just see 3 goals on the stat sheet and remember the mark going back with the flight and assume he was good ?? His 3 goals consisted of a regulation set shot from 35 which came from Tex's quick snap in to an open forward 50 which landed on his chest, him wandering aimlessly in to a vacant goal square and soccering through a ball that landed at his feet, and a shot from 45 which came about from an awful turnover from the Suns which left all the Suns players going the wrong way and so far out of position and even then when the ball landed on his chest he was indecisive about what to do with it. His hands and ball handling skills are not even close to AFL standard, his positioning when long high balls come in to the forward 50 is just wrong, his decision making is poor, and he leads and gets in the way of the players who should be leading at the footy. If he is leading he should be creating space for others, not getting in the way. And falling back on his tackling pressure doesn't cut it, compare the tackles he stuck to the tackles he missed. I'm disappointed if we don't think we currently have a better option. In my opinion he's not up to it.
I thought Himmelberg was very good, undersold by many on here, his hard running, contested work in the air and on the ground and his decision making with ball in hand was very good. Those couple of balls that he had in the middle of the ground, once quickly wheeling and going in to the forward 50, another time opening up the play with a handball, when has Jenkins done anything like that ever ?? Has to stay in the side for an extended period. Also people saying Knight is no good are ignoring his inside work in the forward half of the ground. Did some very good things. Overall our balance looked better but still a lot of room for improvement, and we will need it next week. I thought the ball was in the hands of Kelly, Talia and Hartigan way too often again when we were trying to move the ball forward. Real loss to now lose Milera for an extended period.
Lastly, Smith fantastic and Eddie Betts you are a GOD !!!
Murphy was a very real reason we turned the game around. His desperation was outstanding. He is a courageous player and gives 100% of himself. You could not question that last night. Chapman is cringeworthy and that was embarrassing
No he wasn't, and no he didn't. I even explained why. All you said was that he was "awesome". You can't justify that. He might be courageous and gives 100%, but you need a whole lot more than that at AFL level, especially as a small forward. The Suns and Carlton have a bunch of triers. We have the likes of Ned McHenry in the two's.Murphy was a very real reason we turned the game around. His desperation was outstanding. He is a courageous player and gives 100% of himself. You could not question that last night. He had an awesome game compared to last week.
Did he resign? Hope he finally did the right thing. Thankyou ROB for for your great stewardship of our club If you did step down. It was a great ride. Not.What did Chapman do after the game?
I was in the stand and I saw him walk over and I thought no please dont. I think this is the 1st time I have seen Chapman on the ground since the Geelong PF.It was an embarrassing and unnecessary insertion of himself into the situation. Felt like the club wanted to bring some of the good will back to itself, so it hijacked the moment. Chairing Eddie off was all that was needed. Thst part was done well.with the lighting and music.100% agree, Chapman and the marketing department tried to take advantage of the moment for their own purposes. The special moment was Eddie being carried off. Everyone knew Gold Coast would be waiting so if they felt the need for Chapman to speak then they should of done things in a different order and handed footy's out later.
Would we have done it if we lost? I'd say no.
It is just another small example where our club just reads situations and football moments really wrong.
And all this is true. But its also true that if Murphy was dropped nobody would have spoken against itMurphy was a very real reason we turned the game around. His desperation was outstanding. He is a courageous player and gives 100% of himself. You could not question that last night. He had an awesome game compared to last week.
Murphy was an indicator of our attitude. I wouldnt use great but I would say he played his role.I don't know why people thought Murphy was so great. I didn't think he was good watching it live, and after watching the replay am still of that opinion.
AFC will give a development job for life.He did a presentation for Brodie Smith and Eddie Betts, but made a couple of embarrassing gaffes (most probably from nerves).
He said Eddie Betts was "the best trade ever", when we actually got him as a free agent.
Also said we'll be seeing a lot more of him (Betts) over the next 33 years?? WTF

Really hard to know what to make of yesterday’s game. Churlish not to give credit for a 73 point win, so we do.
