FLETCHER ROBERTS
If we can string more than 2 in a row I will be close to being swayed...Big Question. Imagine we win this game, (though) highly unlikely. Will we all say, we are such a great young team with visionary coaches who can only make one change and still win the game? Just thought I would put it out there. Who knows it might happen and I will say: "Listen big footy members, it takes a genius like perro_loco to say that you were all wrong". Now, if we lose, well, I told you guys the coaching is shait. Hope we win, but looks tough. GO DOGS!!!

Lewie Young is only a couple of months older than Lachie Young. He's a pup, still has plenty of time but he didn't look ready for AFL - held onto the ball too long. Clearly needs another pre-season or two and I suspect the club will hold onto him.If Naughton is being sent back then that's either Bevo giving up on him as a forward or him giving up on Roberts. Campbell all over again, screaming out for someone in that position and playing everyone except them. Not that I blame him on ignoring those two. Young is young enough to have some hope for improvement but he should be getting nervous right about now. It's not easy to get back in this coach's good books.
lets face it we are in a rebuilding phase. bevo doesnt care about the wins but rather teaching players to play multiple roles and improving them for the future.
just get games into the young players. i dont think the club had finals in plans this year.
bevo is using this developmental period to experiment
the sooner we just accept it the better.![]()
Further to this, if indeed Beveridge was using the season for just development and experimentation, the players would soon get wind of it and lose the passion to win altogether.A
IF we are simply in a rebuilding phase, part of rebuilding is to develop specialists as well as versatility for a few. IF we were actually doing this with some purpose we would have a chance at winning. What we are doing with both team selection and game day placement and education is like a dogs breakfast and does not support any narrative
Really annoyed Williams has been chopped again.
Last year he proved a lot of things. One of those being that he is a player who thrives on confidence. Initially, he dwelled on the ball way too often and his glimpses of class were followed by moments of obvious inexperience. Then, suddenly things clicked. He ironed out the silly mistakes and became a very reliable half back. This year Bevo has stuck him in a position he is clearly not suited to and then flicked him out of the team when things don’t go right.
Get him at half back, especially while Suckling is injured, and get some continuity in his game.
Can’t Bevo just be normal for a bit?
Keep Le young. Kid will be a gun. Has the frame to put on the kegs so 1 or 2 more preseasons and he will handle the gorillas.Lewie Young is only a couple of months older than Lachie Young. Well put! LOL.Further to this, if indeed Beveridge was using the season for just development and experimentation, the players would soon get wind of it and lose the passion to win altogether.
Absolutely. That's what destroyed the relationship between the players and McCartney (or was at least part of it). BMac was quite open about saying when he took over in 2012 that he didn't expect success for five years*. I recall Gribben's speech at the BnF when he thanked Rocket for teaching them to win. If the players go out knowing the side is an experiment, or a training session, and they're not likely to win, nothing would make them lose heart quicker. Implicit is that the coach doesn't have faith in them.Further to this, if indeed Beveridge was using the season for just development and experimentation, the players would soon get wind of it and lose the passion to win altogether.
Our match committee and their bizarre set of selection rules which clearly prioritise youth over experience, and seemingly prioritise certain personality traits over performance, seemed determined to derail our promising start to the season.
How can Young remain in the team after last week's performance?
How can Fletcher Roberts not be selected when the team is crying our for another tall defender?
The only answer that I can think of is because we have match committee who value self imposed selection rules above winning games.
How much better does this team look than the one we've selected.
They're all fit Bevo.....
B: Wood Naughton Crozier
HB: JJ Cordy Williams
C: Lipinski Libba Hunter
HF: Mclean Trengrove Dickson
F: Lloyd Schache Gowers
Foll: English Bont McCrae
Int: Wallis Dunkley Lynch Daniel
Out: Richards, B Smith, Young, Hayes (Richards/Young to the backline, Smith & Hayes on the ball in VFL until they're better than someone in that position)
In: Lipinski, Trengrove, Schache, Lynch
