This thread is becoming increasingly popular, and to keep some sort of order, we will have some….

Rules of engagement:

1. Bring valid news or links to Twitter posts from notable sources. Don’t post screenshots or “some bloke just said on SEN” or what some “trade whisperer” has posted on a Facebook page.

2. Ignore what other team boards are putting up as trade offers. Don’t quote or bring them here either.

3. Don’t post “buckle up” for the lols.

4. If you can’t say anything nice about Worpel or CJ, don’t say anything at all. The continued slaps and backhanders are just going to be deleted.

Serong for Florent straight swap pls.

Florent could be handy as a fringe player especially now we have 5 on the bench. Can play at least okay back, wing and even forward.
Agree with this.. we're losing a few guys this trade period.. would like someone who is versatile and reliable to come in which Florent is

yep if Finn and Harry were fit CJ wouldn't have played in this finals campaign

and when he did play he wasn't great

pretty fair offer for a fringe player and one I expect we will accept maybe with some haggling over draft points
Yes, but there were injured so CJ did play.

Next year if they or others are injured will Pick 42 play? I don't think so.

So trading him while contracted makes us weaker and reduces our depth. I would only do it if it's to get more cap space, or if we can trade him for a depth player in another position.

I'd do a deal for CJ for say a midfielder that got 5-10 games in 2025.

I think they are a) trying to wring as much collateral as they can get b) trying to destabilise as many of our contracted players as possible by kicking the tyres on them

I really hope MM does something to make a statement today that shows these guys that we won’t be dictated by such an irrelevant football club. Hang in there everyone and enjoy the ride.

I think too c) because they are such a rabble, with illusions of grandeur, rather than looking at improving their list, they tend to want to bring other clubs down to their level of mediocrity.

Have we ever received a thumper deal for any of our players in the last 20 years? Can’t remember one player to leave for anything higher than maybe Brad hill which was probably under anyway.
Brad Hill was one of the most consistent wingmen in the league, 23 years old and the key part of 3 flags and we got Pick 23 for him. It was miles under.

I'm really glad professional sports exists for people like Jenkins.

He'd be completely ****ed without it.

Even the Fiorini deal was stupid.
Gold Coast wanted a pick this year, so they could use the points. Essenscum insisted on giving an F3 instead.
Everyone says this years draft is poor, so I expect an F3 is worth more than a current 3rd... but Essendon would shoot themsleves in the foot rather than give another club something they ask for.
It's just so incredibly dumb!

Also won the B&F at his first year at Freo. Felt like we honoured his "I need to be close to family" bullshit, and let him go cheap. Then three years later he's traded back to a vic club (for family reasons!!!). Freo got pick 10 , 58, future second, and acres for him (with a third rounder going back to saints). To be fair, he did improve in his first year or two at Freo, but we were shafted due to being too nice.

The club looked out for him so he could get home to play with his brother.

Hill won the Freo BnF in his first year there.

We should have demanded a top 10 pick and more for Hill. Same year we gave 14 for Mitchell (bargain) and THE ENTIRE WORLD, for O'Meara who hadn't played for 2 years.

While I still maintain that we did get the best of O'Meara. People always say "never got back to his best" but he got better at Hawthorn than his first 2 years at GC. He just never reached the potential people saw in him. Tim Watson said he'd be the GOAT and was better than Judd and GAJ.

O'Meara deal was overs as was wingard. As was our offer yesterday for Merrett.
