Is he actually any better? Better leap but does nothing around the ground?

You need the ruck to contribute. Garbage when they don't. So if he can't do that, better off with Maley in there or something.
Hmmm Brisbane just won back to back flags with Darcy Fort as a ruck (Big O could barely move in the second), Geelong made a GF with Rhys Stanley and super utility Blicavs.

If he can get his hand to the ball before the other rucks, and give some decent service to our mids, then happy days. Ruck has become such an overrated position, only good for fantasy points. English, Grundy, Gawn, TDK, Xerri all played for teams last year that missed the 8. We finished minor premiers with ROB.

ROB will always be a crom B and F winner but in 10 years when someone says his name, I'll remember this kick against Hawthorn.

You joke, but I don't think we're that far away from saying that a knee in the back of the head in a marking contest is a free kick.
Masters footy, no knees up.
Would be ridiculous.

I reckon the ability to execute skills under pressure is the most important thing you need in a ruck for finals.

If you end up needing a bail out kick or the ruck gets involved in a chain, you need them to be able to mark and dispose of the ball. And maybe only a couple of times a game.

The actual ruck work and other nice stuff isn't that important. But you can't carry a weak link that screws up entire passages of play (I'm looking at you, Rory Atkins in the 2017 grand final)

McAndrew seems like a neat disposer but his marking last I looked was pretty questionable. Not convinced you could rely on him to take a mark from a kick out of defense

Burns said the coaches were impressed with Rachele’s development as a midfielder so far.

“Rash has spent some time in the midfield for us, probably not as much in the last 18 months but a few years back he played in there a bit,” Burns said.

Yeah, no sh*t 🙄 feenix67 where's those insane CBA stats that Rachele had when they used him through there properly before baulking and making him a permanent small forward?

Some clubs were using a tactic where their ruck would just wrestle the other one out of the way, allowing a teammate to just have free access at the hitout.

Which should have aligned with the AFL’s desire to reduce repeat stoppages. The 3rd man up was a godsend as the outcome was mostly a big hit forward.

Pic of Fog on socials isn't exactly flattering
Neither was his performance yesterday, being regularly beaten by the B-team's defenders. Fingers crossed he'll come good by the start of the season though - it's still early in the pre-season. We know how seriously ROB treats these pre-season games (not), hopefully Fog is just doing something similar.

Your first sentence is correct for all types of player. Executing under pressure is what separates players. As a club, we must demand execution under pressure. But we are happy rating players based upon what they do against rabbles.

If you assess our best 23 against finals pressure, very few rise to the challenge. And we’re not yet a club that demands that they do.

Coaches to blame too for negative game plan & mindset.

Incorrect !

The current circle was brought in to stop the Dennis Lillee Run-up by RUCKS .....the current circle restricts the momentum that can be obtained

All that's happen is bringing back the ruck craft of tapping ....rather than the Roman wrestling eyesore we have now
You don’t think there is yearning for the good ol days before the circle?

It’s all I’ve been hearing.

I don’t know what they think they are getting with the current rubbish - that SOO game was confusing to watch with the new ruck rule. No idea how they are going to umpire it!

They are trying to squeeze the centre bounce down a narrow lane of their choosing - it’s terrible.

Brilliant

What a fine specimen of a man. Peak physical fitness.
I feel that one might be doctored because I found the original.
