Autopsy Autopsy vs Essendon - good grief

Negatives:
  • our overall skill level, still.
  • our strength and conditioning, still.
  • Jy Simpkin, some truly pathetic moments. He was our captain? Get lost.
  • caleb, why was he moved back again? Just move past this guy.
  • X’s act of stupidity
  • Zane getting beat comprehensively by Roberts in a strength contest.

Positives:
  • Zane taking baby steps at least.
  • FOS gives us hope. Needs to be our best player, and probably will be.

We don’t have any depth that’s why there is no pressure on spots
Maybe, maybe not. I'm not convinced that 4-5 of the players we rolled out with tonight are better than what we have in the VFL.

LMac still sucking momentum out of our movement with his old heave ho’s to no one. Curtis looks like he’s lost his confidence again. Unlike some others CCJ was at least consistent, just a shame it’s consistently bad. Powell and Stephens were mere shadows and Jy did not “play his role”. Worst on ground was our skills and brains as usual. X should get a fine but won’t because of the North tax where AFL will need a distraction for the week and will delight in having something to make an example of. Augers terribly for Good Friday.

Frustrating but happy with the win, but not happy with the inconsistency of performance.
  • The gap between our best and worst football is as wide as it's ever been, when we play good football, it's competitive and fun to watch, but when we are at our worst we are an embarrassment.
  • Finn O'Sullivan may be the best player on our list, his skills are exquisite and his work rate is first class.
  • Tom Blamires and Cooper Trembath have been amazing finds, both have strong futures ahead of them.
  • I hope Simpkin and CCJ find their way into the VFL in the coming weeks, we will not improve while these two remain in our AFL team.
  • 2 and 1 with Carlton, Brisbane and Richmond in the next three weeks, it would be nice for the development of the team if we can win 2.

Im not sure if I'd classify Tom as "amazing" just yet.

His kicking skills need a heap of work now that the dust has settled.

Cooper is absolutely amazing.

Reckon he’s the sort of guy who thrives on having a job. Could see it tonight and the Port game. Not like a negating only role, but tell him to beat someone at every contest and he’s in his element.

The Ben Jacobs Gen II

**** people whinge on here all week about how we’re gonna lose, and then when we play badly and still win its toys out of the cot again.

Some very ordinary football - Jy Simpkin springs to mind - but we got it done. Move on. We’re 2-1 and the season is alive, which is more than you can say for Essington.

I thought FOS was really good, some good signs again from Duursma early again. Good was good, bas was REAL bad. Scott flooded the backline so that was a factor, shorter week coming from Perth in a hot high pressure game was also a factor. Happy with the points but it was a really ugly game.

Some of the turnovers were really ridiculous.

Horrendous. But winning ugly sometimes has to happen. We definitely showed at times some good stuff and we definitely showed things we have seen over the last 6 years.

You wont often hear this from me.

The Happy Meal stays in for another week. Only because blamires takes simplins spot and hardenan goes to half back. We now need a new back pocket in midseason draft.

Simplin vegan shit can go too

This might be unpopular opinion but I thought X was poor tonight. A better opponent would've dominated him.

For the first time, I'm concerned.
The rule change isn't good at thr centre bounce. But once its a secondary bounce he wins contests. His more mobile opponents will run forward to try to kick goals against him though.

I love the contested stuff but he is in a form slump. Our mids need to start reading opposition taps.

T'wasn't a dream Jer. More of a hallucination after a bad trip. I mean, he was out there but like Schrodinger's cat, he also wasn't (apart from that handball which proves the point).

The main problem for CCJ is if he doesn’t get it in the air, he is useless on the ground. And also, he is useless in the air.
