btw tony you can add 10 goals by yours truly to most goals in a game. Don't think another Bear has kicked 10 in a game.

After a bit of research, it appears you are correct, you and Broken have both kicked 10 goals for the Bears. You did it in the first game of your 3rd season against the Royals and Broken kicked 10 against the Hawks in one of his last games before retiring.

Records have been updated.

Let me tell you a story about the Bears' 400th game in the SFA. Picture this: a mudfest of a day, facing off against the mighty Gumbies, the reigning champs.

Story time with tony.png

After last week's kick around with the Old Boys which we lost last week due to our wayward kicking, we heeded the advice of the old saying, "If at first, you don't succeed, try, try again." And that's precisely what we did. While the Gumbies gracefully kicked four goals in the opening quarter, we thought, "Why not challenge ourselves and see how many points we can rack up?" Well, turns out, not many. At quarter time, we had 3 points.

kick a goal.jpg

Cue the choice words from the Bears fans in the crowd, prompting us to reconsider our strategy. "Between the big sticks, you say?" And voila! Maestro RonnieRaven nailed it in the first minute of the quarter. Goals from Cap and Jezmiester40, sprinkled with a few more points, had us trailing by only 16 points at halftime.

After an impressive streak of five points, Jezmiester40 decided to grace us with a goal, signaling the start of our snail paced comeback. With our defense channeling their inner JoseMourinho, employing the "park the bus" tactic, we held the Gumbies scoreless for the quarter. We kicked 4 goals 7, snatching the lead and heading into the last quarter with a 15 point lead. Our accuracy? Well, let's just say if falling out of a boat were an Olympic sport, we'd have missed the water.

After scoring the last goal in the third quarter, Cap kicked off the last quarter with another one, extending our lead. The Gumbies attempted a comeback, but our semi accurate quarter resulted in goals to Electronic_Renaissance, MWPP, and one more from Cap, essentially sealing the deal. We clinched our first win of the season, a 28 point victory that could've been much more if we were on target.

Almost half the team managed at least one point this week, with only Millky95 and RonnieRaven gracefully avoiding the points only club. Cap bagged himself four goals, Jezmiester40 claimed two, and singles went to Electronic_Renaissance, JoseMourinho, Millky95, MWPP and RonnieRaven. Possessions were scarcer than a kangaroo in Antarctica due to the muddy conditions, with ER and Millky leading the way with 16 each. Tandy squeezed in 15 between peddling state of the art '80s PCs to Gumbies supporters. The new wing duo of Art Vandelay_ and Matera92 couldn't be separated, each with 13 possessions, as did RookiePick, who chipped in with 13 along with 6 hitouts. And then there's kane249, our lone soldier without a double figure DT score, sitting comfortably at -1.

This week, we're hosting our first home game of the season, and it's Heritage Round. Brace yourselves, because the Royals of Gold City are dropping by. Swing by and say hello to them sometime this week!

Well, well, well, my extraordinary Bears! Let's talk about that wild game against the Gumbies. The heavens decided to throw us a bit of a challenge with those muddy conditions, but what's a game of qooty without a little mud, right?

Now, it being the Bears' 400th game, there was a special magic in the air. A milestone like that deserves a celebration, and you certainly provided one. The way you rallied, not giving up after that goal less first quarter, was nothing short of inspirational. That's the spirit that makes the Bears the incredible team they are.

And let's address the elephant in the room, our accuracy at goal. It was a bit like trying to hit a bullseye blindfolded, but you know what? The Bears don't just play for the goals, they play for the journey.

What about that comeback? It was like watching a phoenix rise from the mud or is that Hawks these days, scoring goals left and right. The resilience and determination displayed were truly remarkable. And let's not forget the defense in the third quarter, impenetrable. The Gumbies couldn't find a way through.

In the end, it wasn't just a win, it was a statement. A statement that the Bears, even after 400 games, are still a force to be reckoned with. So, my muddy but magnificent Bears, here's to many more victories and incredible moments in the next 400 games. Onward to the next chapter in this epic saga!

HERITAGE ROUND HALF CENTURY TRIUMPH FOR TONY'S TON

In Round 3 after a fortnight long road trip, The mighty Las Vegas Bears returned home to The Stadium In The Sky to host the Royals for our first home game of the season. The fans turned up in record numbers for training during the week and were treated to a week of Heritage Round celebrations, including an overview of our glorious history, a preview of our classy heritage jumper and the presentation of our updated All-Stars Las Vegas Bears team. As the fans honoured their hero and beloved skipper tony ahead of his 100th game, they revelled in the 'old time memories' by day and partied to Taylor Swift by night.

On a warm day in Vegas, we were desperate to continue our winning form so chose to enter the game unchanged rather than unnecessarily tinker with a winning formula. The Royals handled the conditions better than we did initially as they scored 6 of the first 7 scoring shots. Although a 2nd goal to Cap seemed to stem the flow, the Royals surged ahead to be 20 points up before very late majors to Jezmiester40 and Millky95 trimmed the deficit back to a more manageable 8 points at the first change.

The second quarter began as a stalemate with no scores for the first 5 minutes and no goals for the first 7.45. We then broke the deadlock and found another gear by kicking 4 goals in a row thanks to the efforts of RookiePick , Tandy , Millky95 and yours truly to convert the quarter time deficit into a lead. We let the Royals off the hook slightly with our inaccuracy but still dominated the quarter, with further goals to Cap and yours truly later in the quarter giving us a handy 14 point lead at half-time.

The third quarter was a hard fought contest for the first 19 minutes, as we found an answer to each Royal goal kicked thanks to two goals from Jezmiester and another one from Cap. Tommycash 's goal broke the goal-for-goal pattern and gave us a game high 21 point lead. However, this was short lived as the Royals kicked 2 more goals late in the term. They could've easily had three, but fortunately they let us off the hook with a miss from 45 metres out/not much angle in the last few seconds, leaving us with an 8 point lead at the final change.

The final term shaped up to be a thriller and the first 10 minutes followed that script, with just a goal a piece by that point. Goals to RookiePick and yours truly extended the margin. Eventually the floodgates opened in the second half of the quarter as the Royals had no match for our fitness & strength. It was party time as RonnieRaven , Cap (twice), Millky95 (yet again) all converted before a final minute behind by Millky95 left us with an even 50 point win that defied our usual the milestone curse, sent a strong message to the competition and left a few astute punters celebrating after cashing on the juicy odds offered by ChippyBet.

This win was setup by multiple strong individual performances all across the ground. Millky95 massacred both of his opponents in a brilliant display that resulted in 8 tackles, 23 disposals, 110 DT points and 3.4 goals. He combined well with engine room partner in crime Tandy (95 DT, 2 straight goals, 7 tackles) as full forward Cap (6 goals, 76 DT) relished the supply and kicked a bag whilst having his opponent's measure all night. In fact, Cap could've easily had 10 as he netted the tricky ones but missed out on some easier ones. Starting Back Pockets Tommycash (97 DT, 23 disposals, 11 marks, 1 goal) and RookiePick (80 DT, 2 goals, 21 disposals) turned back the clock and showed dash/rebound as they moved up the ground and were outstanding all night. Their dominance complemented the more traditional, one-on-one approach from fellow veteran defenders JoshWoodenSpoon and Dingster (who both had the better of their opponents all night).

Despite the margin, there is still plenty of upside/scope for improvement with experienced trio Senor M (0 DT), Chipmunk (6 DT) & Electronic_Renaissance (8 DT) all having days to forget with limited game time to 'manage' their fitness.

Bring on the Furies for our second home game of the season this week!

Well, let me tell you about that game against the Royals. Whew, what a rollercoaster of emotions, my fine furry friends!

In this heritage round clash against the Royals, my extraordinary Bears, we didn't just play a game, we danced with the spirits of our legendary forebears. It was like having a few extra players on the field — the Bears of old whispering in our ears, guiding our every move.

First off, Tony's 100th game. A century for our captain, and did he deliver! The man led with heart, grit, and maybe a few extra bribes for good measure. Truly, he's the backbone of this team.

Now, the first quarter, not our finest hour. It was like trying to juggle porcupines, a bit prickly and, dare I say, not very effective. But you know what? We didn't let that define us. We dug deep, believed in each other, and turned things around.

And that last quarter, oh, it was a thing of beauty! Seven goals, my friends, seven! It was like a symphony of kicks, handballs, and roars. The Royals threw everything they had, but our defense? Rock solid. They defended like it was the last line of a good joke, letting in only one goal.

Now, about me subbing off half the team... well, you see, I had this brilliant idea. I thought a bit of bench bonding time would bring out the best in them. Besides, it's like a bear picnic, you never know who you'll end up sitting next to.

And Senor M's donuts game! Now, that's a rare feat. I told him, "Senor, it's not about the stats, it's about the sweet, sweet dance on the field." And dance he did, even if the stats took a coffee break.

In the end, it was a great win, a testament to our belief, our camaraderie, and the fact that sometimes, you just need a good laugh and a whole lot of heart to come out on top. Onward, my Bears, to more wins, more laughs, and more history in the making! 🐻

Cap kicked 9 goals, showcasing his scoring prowess on the field.

Matera92 turned back time, amassing an impressive 35 disposals. Art Vandelay_ astutely noted that he could have had even more if he had kicked the ball with a bit more haste.

Millky95 commanded the game with 32 disposals, displaying his masterful control of the ball.

In a jubilant mood after a very large sale, Tandy spread happiness, delivering free hugs to everyone adding a solid 16 tackles to the Bears' defensive efforts.

Tommycash contributed 24 disposals to the team's success, while Test Tickle recorded 22 disposals and an impressive 11 hitouts. Meanwhile, the tactical genius, JoseMourinho, strategically parked his bus in front of the goals and contributed 21 disposals along with three spectacular goals.

A more comprehensive stats report on this season will be published later in the week.

Well, my fantastic Bears, let's chat about that dance we had with the Furies. What a match, what a spectacle, and what a win!

We kicked things off with a bang, setting the stage for a performance that'd make the Vegas strip jealous. The second quarter? Oh, that was like the encore; we kept the momentum going, hit the jackpot, and left the Furies wondering if they were in the right casino.

Now, in the third quarter, we decided to let them have a little taste of the spotlight, a touch of drama, you know, to keep things interesting. But, as the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and boy, did we keep the drama contained.

Not a single goal for the Furies while we threw a royal flush's worth, six to be exact. And let's talk about our star players! Cap, our goal scoring ace, putting in a stellar performance with nine goals. Matera92, the ace with the ball, gliding across the field with 35 touches. Millky95, not far behind, with 32 touches, contributing to the Vegas magic. And Tandy, well, he was dealing out free hugs like it was a high stakes poker game, wrapping up the opposition with 16 tackles.

But you know what, my Bears? It wasn't just about individual brilliance; it was a roll of the dice, a gamble that paid off big time. Everyone played their part, hit their cues, and together, we orchestrated a win that resonates louder than the cheers from a Vegas crowd.

So, here's to each and every one of you, to the goals, the touches, the tackles, and the hugs. Onward, my Bears, to more performances that leave the crowd cheering on the Vegas strip!

That is not what I said. I said his constant inability to get a kick off is why he was worst on ground.

Thought this was gonna be another Cap milestone game for a minute. Surely one just around the corner.

That's loser talk.
Matera, my fine friend, individual brilliance is like a flashy magic trick, entertaining for a moment. But what we have here, with our teamwork and camaraderie, that's not just a trick; it's a full on magic show. And you, my friend, are one of the star magicians. So, let's keep the show rolling.

Stats Update Round 4 New
stat corner.png

Welcome to our first stats update for the season.

Player Stats for Season 37
  • Matera92 & Millky95 lead the way with 93 disposals each, followed by a group of players with 50 and 60 plus disposals each.
  • Tandy & Millky95 have been tackle happy so far this season combining for 51 tackles, nearly half of the teams tackle count for the season.
  • As usual when it comes to free kicks, getting them and giving them away Millky95 leads on both fronts.
  • Cap's 9 goals on the weekend puts him well in front on the leading goalkickers list with Jezmiester40 pushing him for most behinds kicked.
  • If you are wondering why you have been pulled off, it is because Ted Lasso likes to have your company on the bench. (How many times you have been benched this season, not including starting on the bench)
Ted must have really loved Chipmunk & JoshWoodenSpoon's company in Round 3 pulling them off 3 times each.

Playing Stats Rd 4.png

Quarter by Quarter Stats
Our 2nd and 4th Quarters have been amazing so far this season and the defence really steps up in the last quarter to have only conceded 5 goals in 4 games. We will need to improve on our starts as we have conceded 31 scoring shots to 18 in first quarters and the damage could have been a lot worse if our opponents had kicked straighter.
