Watching Membrey's highlights today...if only he was 5cm taller!!! Would still love to draft him at 22 though if he gets through

A convert... excellent.

I think he would be ideal as a FF. Easily have third forward and resting ruckman without being too top heavy

Hate to invade, kudos on the premiership by the way, always have a soft spot for the swannies which is why I picked you for the mock draft on the Saints board. Now of course, I've realised that I'm not sure what you need, I think a KPP, but who do you have your eye on and how many picks do you think you'll use? Thanks heaps.

If none of the higher ranked KPD's are available at our pick, just go best available. Though would be nice to get a linebreaking HBF at our first pick.

I've taken out our grand final 22, plus you can include McGlynn in that as he would have played if fit. So its worth a look at the structure of our list and what areas we may need to strengthen. Here are the reserves we have in various positions (senior list)

Key defenders:

Key forwards:
Tommy Walsh

200cm+ ruckmen:

Inside Midfielders:
Tom Mitchell

Outside Midfielders/Flankers:
Jed Lamb
Tony Armstrong
Harry Cunningham

3rd Talls/Utilities:
Gary Rohan
Jordan Lockyer
Alex Brown
Jesse White
Andrejs Everitt

Move Rohan out of Utilities, move Armstrong to a small defender category and it seems fair imo

As good as our key defenders are in the best 22 they are still a bit undersized, would love to see us target this role

Rohan isn't a key forward, key defender, ruckman or anything else really - not sure what you'd classify him as other than a utility. I'm not convinced about Armstrong's ability to play a lock-down role as a small defender, he is best as a running player.

About 6'3 and runs like the wind, sound familiar? And that's how I think we should play him, so I'm thinking on a wing with a license to go anywhere, difficult match up, as he can play big or small...

He's definitely a utility.

Hey guys, just took first pick for you in the Phantom Draft. Really wanted Membrey to fall based on he'd have been best available and filled a need. For me, Lonergan was just too good to pass up at pick 23. Next best was Nathan Wright but the gap was just too big. I also had Tanner Smith pegged as a possible to fill a need but IMO I can get a better prospect with those picks in the 40's where I'll take a KPP, most likely defender.

Pick #23 - Sydney - Jesse Lonergan (Midfielder)
Height: 183cm
Weight: 86kg
Club: Launceston

Must admit I had a tough choice when Yoda was given Lonergan as he was my clear best available at this pick. Was then weighing up going needs or next best available when giving Snoop my list which was a KPD. Then I got on before Snoop and went best available with Wright. Then Yoda changed his mind and went Smith and I got my best available after all. :D

Lonergan suffered early in the year through injury and wasn't one I rated more than a mid 2nd rounder. However, he has just kept on improving. Real tough nut inside midfielder who will thrive in the Sydney culture. Loves to do all the hard things and dish out to teammates. One of the bigger criticisms of Lonergan in the past has been his kicking and the fact he is really only an inside player. However, this year his kicking has really sharpened up which is why I have him pushing up into mid-late first round calculations. I think it was Chris25 who summed it up best about his outside game for Tasmania whereby he can't play outside because if he wasn't doing the inside grunt work then they would never get the ball. FWIW his Champs consisted of 35 contested possessions and only 14 uncontested so he's a hard worker.

What also impressed me with Lonergan was his ability to push forward and kick a goal in the Champs kicking a total of 4 goals in the final 2 games against NSWACT and NT. Athletically Lonergan is a beast. He's already a huge unit and ready to contribute from day one and has the added bonus of speed and agility. From memory he won the agility at the Combine with a time of 8 seconds flat.

Why Sydney? People are probably wondering why the hell would Sydney take another inside midfielder? Well for me when it came to needs there isn't really much Sydney need as of right this minute, what with being the reigning premiers and all. It will be about getting early replacements for their players who are 29 year old and above for the future. This meant I could just go best available first up and I had Lonergan a fair way ahead of the next group so in the end it was a no-brainer. I think Sydney's development team will look to develop his outside game before he gets many games so he becomes a more rounded midfielder which I think his athletic traits and improved skills will allow him to do.

Who would you have taken at pick 22...... The one we will actually get.

Is that because Melbourne or Adelaide are losing their pick? If it's Adelaide I'd hope Simpson gets through as I rate him top 10 on ability. Otherwise hope Pies take him and Membrey gets through.

If it's because Melbourne lose their pick of Stringer then it's too hard to guess who would slide through as I don't really rate Stringer but I'm sure someone would have taken him reasonably highly.

next pick a white, fort, rodda, colledge orl corr would fit the bil
Well I somehow had Corr on the board at 45. Epic win. I think he'll go top 30 on draft day. Couple that with Lonergan who I think will go pick 13 to GC and we have a couple of bargains. :D

Aidan Corr has some very nice qualities but is he an actual key defender or is he like Brown and Lockyer? I'll be interested to see who you pick at 47 as the player I like most outside the top 25-30 is still available.

Can't see Simpson getting through sadly... If he does though can't see us passing him up.

Membrey is a bit of an outside shot of slipping... If he does fall to us can't see us passing him up.

Really liked your pick of Jessie Lonergan by the way... If might surprise some people but we actually don't have any real depth for inside midfielder past Parker... ANd we defiantly need to develop a few more players for the future in that position.

My best available fills a future need off a HBF. Just hope he doesn't go to West Coast next pick which I think he will. I've picked Corr as a versatile KPD who can rebound and be more your CHB type. I want to get a complete shutdown defender later. Considered Tanner Smith but tbh I can get one just as good later on. Need a KPF and a young ruck that will be the tough part.

Mitchell? But yer Lonergan was far and away best available for what I had left. If anyone saw what happened, Doggies were given Lonergan by default and I took Wright as a HBF but Doggies changed their pick to Smith and I managed to get Lonergan and now I'm happy because my best available for next pick is a HBF who I wouldn't take if I already had one.

Carter? Ashby? But I know you like Osborne.
