I see the stars have listed an unchanged team on the NFL website for tomorrow. Surely not?

Also i reckon the 3 boys listed in north's outs would get a game in a all other div 2 senior teams. scary.

Jesse Tardio a big "in" for the Doggies. Has been in good late season form with the Northern Blues.
Transferred mid season from Parkside. That one slipped under the radar

Spoke to saddo this morning he reckons on the team sheet they saw last night they have made 6 changes. Not sure why they would change it back.
He so said the boys who missed were a credit to themselves the way they handled it. Good luck doggies. Hope all goes well for you in both games tomorrow

Semi Finals.
North Heidelberg vs Fitzroy Stars Anticipating a closer game than last week, but winning form and confidence is everything in finals games so really can't see the Stars upsetting the red-hot premiership favourites in the Doggies, who apart form one little hiccup have been dominant all season.
Mernda vs Lalor. An exact replica to last week's Div.3 semi where both team come into the game after losing their final game. Another game that will be close for the majority of the day but expect the Demons to pull away from the Bloods late and keep their finals involvement alive.

Doggies V Stars. stars on their day have the ability to beat them but think doggies will win by 4-5 goals.
Mernda V Lalor. Mernda are a 4-5 goal better team and will pan out that way.

Ressies:
Doggies v Mernda - doggies easily, they will romp this premiership in
Fitzroy v Diamo - interesting game, toss of the coin. diamo the better side when fully fit but havnt been great of late. Diamo just.

19's:
St Marys v Hurstbridge - should be a good contest - hurstbridge beat them a few weeks back but you would think st marys just
South Morang v Diamo - toss of the coin game with diamo just getting the chocolates

Stars started off sharper, and missed some opportunities early but north will be kicking themselves that they didnt put the game away with about 10min left. Once stars the got the momentum back they made north pay. If north get through next week then this premiership to up for grabs by either team. We all know what happened last year.

Stars v North a cracker of a game. To me North erred at selection with the one extra tall - Dean, Florence & Villanti as Stars pace particularly from 15 min mark of 3rd & 4th quarters was a worry. Holmes should definitely have played as a extra mid not to mention he can play a bit. Would not right Doggies off however as they will bounce back & hopefully with Dowling back will be more potent up forward. Need to make a big call on the tall blokes who really can play the one position apart from some pinch hitting up forward. Also some smaller guys up forward eg. Taylor might be looking over their shoulder. Played all year but for mine what I've seen this season probably not doing enough.

Christ almighty what a first week of finals, lucky to be at both matches.

The Stars/Dogs game was amazing. They are the two best sides (though I'm sure we'll have something to say about that on Saturday). The Stars looked the better team on the day.

Sunday was stressful. We were seven goals up 10 minutes into the last and within eight minutes the lead was shredded to 10. It was an astounding comeback. Luckily we settled and responded.

Can't wait for this week - two prelims.

Harvey yellow carded on the weekend, any danger to miss this week with the 3 yellow card rule? Or the grand final if he was to get a yellow this weekend?

The dogs would want to get through first, otherwise wouldnt matter how many yellows he has recieved. Although the dogs will be favourites and should win ive seen stranger things happen on preliminary final day.

Your spot on there i reckon, reserve were probably 1 big man short and the senior 1 big man too many. With Lonergan in the side they could probably even go with just one main ruckman and use lonergan to relieve. That way they would be able to add an extra 2 smalls.

It may have been discussed before but do Fitzroy and North have plans for U19s?

Do you HAVE to have U19s to play Div 1? (I am not sure only heard that you are supposed to) I know in the past some have tried to get a side only to withdraw early in the season due to numbers.

Just wondering.

Would have thought Stars in best position to get u/19s up & running as North recruiting zone via Preston/Reservoir areas ha dried up over last decade, subsequently a key reason for being in Divvy 2. Doggies building a link with West Ivanhoe juniors which is great but will take time to develop at upper age level.

After the way the regular season panned out I'm sure only the Stars supports would have expected the Doggies to be facing off against the Demons for a place in the grand final via the prelim. The Doggies were definately the standout team during the season and while finals football is different and can throw up unique results occasionally, I don't think this week's game will be one of them. North Heidelberg by 34 points.

Do North Heidelberg or Mernda have an away jumper? Could be confusing if they both wear their normal jumpers

We've got an away jumper. It'll be alright.

On tomorrow - I have no idea what to expect. Yeah everybody is saying North will win and I'm fully understanding given they've been dominant for much of the year. But then again it's a preliminary and we'll be attacking it hard, after all the game starts at 0-0 doesn't it? I can't wait.

Mernda reserves by 25 nth seniors by 80 is lv injured or left out very unlucky if left out has carried the load all year

Couldn't be prouder of the boys today. North just too good in the last quarter, Division One like if anything. We gave it a real go and you can't fault that.

Bigger and better into 2015. Good luck to both the Stars and North next week and hopefully our twos can upset the applecart next week too.

Mernda boys could definitely hold their heads up high walking off the ground. Just seemed as if they got to the moment we're winning became a real possibility and they tightened up which is to be expected. Stopped taking the game on and once the dogs got their confidence back it was north by how far.

The 2 best performed teams all year long will play in the granny and that's the main thing I guess. Should be a cracker.

Yeah you're exactly right. Just ran out of legs after the effort we put in in the first three quarters but nonetheless I held my head up very high.

We've gone from Division Three just two years ago, to yesterday's preliminary final, and I couldn't be prouder of the club's efforts in that time.

And on next week, yeah I think it will be an absolute cracker of a game.

Any1 know whether Lachie Dowling is available for Dogs for GF. If he is could be an interesting selection bringing a tall in against slick Stars outfit. North would not want to give them a six goal start like Mernda otherwise a long afternoon.

I don't think they'd want to give the Stars a five goal start like the second semi either! Heard a bit about the conditions not being extremely conductive to talls so there could be some tough decisions.
