Sydney give up their 2nd round pick and it usually is between 25 and 32. What had McGlynn and Kennedy done games wise when they trade picks in that range for them in 2009??. Sydney are the masters of finding value in trading away their 2nd round pick.

They got picks 39, 46 & 70 for Mcglynn & Kennedy.

No way 2nd round pick for an injury prone Burton if we have to trade our 1st round.

Does he classify as injury prone? I know he had a badly broken leg but not sure he classifies as injury prone because of it

Thanks, I though it was a bit lower than that. Maybe I am mixing it up with Richards or Shaw or one of their other 2nd round trades.

Kennedy had played 13 games and Zero finals over 2 seasons. McGlynn 44 games and Zero finals over 4 seasons. Hawks played in finals in 2007 and 2008 in that time. Kennedy was 21 and 3 months old in October 2009 and McGlynn was 24 and 2 months.

O'Shea has played 68 games inc 5 finals over 5 seasons and is 23 years and 6 months old.

I think the finals factor is often overlooked. The Saints will know that he is definitely in their age profile, but also has the experience of 5 finals that consist of wins and losses (both good to learn from) as well as Prelim experience.

If you change that to elite kick and decent speed, the answer is Sam Mayes and a pick in the high teens or low twenties.

He's got all the talent in the world Mayes. Who ever gets him away from the player welfare and development hole that is Brisbane will be laughing.

I think Sam Mayes would be a good fit for our team. Like to see him on a wing.

Knightmare argues that Ryan Burton is closer to Sam Mayes than Jake Stringer as a player Ryan plays higher up the ground. The concern of course being his recovery from the broken leg and if there is residual damage that effects his knee. The break being very close to the knee.

My current preferences would be (if the status quo remained in terms of draft picks)

1. Weideman /Curnow / AhChee / H Mckay

2. Burton / O'Kearney / Cole

3. Jeffs / Rioli / Tahana

Needs more J.Brind

I would be quite happy for us to take O'Kearney with our first pick

Really? He is dividing opinions on bigfooty .. Maybe because he isn't a flashy player or trending (180cm?) although people seem to rate him but think he has a ceiling of solid football..

I've seen another poster on the port board rate him.. Might of been Honeyboy Wilson ?

You rate him? You seen many of the other prospects this year ?

He's a big time accumulator whose skills are being talked down when they're more than fine. Always seems to get into the right positions, moves well even if not known for his pace. Could probably work on the defensive side of his game a bit, but seems to me like a pretty can't miss prospect in terms of playing AFL football, although I see him as a 4th or 5th best mid. Nice pickup for a second rounder for sure.

He has plummeted down the draft boards though... Not sure why. I'm not as close a follower as others, so they must see some deficiencies that I don't. I just see him as a good ball winning midfielder.

Without context I'd think this entire post was about Colquhoun.

That o'kearney kid looks ok from that video. I would like us to get a great lateral mover, not necessarily quick but has good agility and skills. Sounds exactly the same as Gray but who wouldn't want another one.

On a side note, whoever gets riley bonner will have a player on their hands. If only we did a trade such as moore and our third for the saints second he could possibly be in reach.10/11 there would be better players available according to needs but for pure skill can't go past bonner

Would anyone consider Fitzpatrick from the Dees as a DFA? Although I'd still rather redden on the list than him, he can be a depth ruck and ruck put SANFL while Frampton develops his game

Maybe on the rookie list, not the main list.

Considering the delistings several clubs have made it looks like most are still taking 3 or 4 picks in this draft + rookies. So much for it being a weak draft!

What will be interesting though is how many in that 20- 50 bracket make it, get game time next year and how long they will take to develop. Whilst you could say that every year, in past drafts the suggestion was you got potential AFL players with your first 2 picks and thereafter it was a bit more of a lottery. Seems that after pick 20 this year it is a bit of a lottery. Even the first 15 picks feature several players who haven't played much this year.

All I say is I hope McKay and Burton are available at our picks, both seem like great fits. I wonder if we will chase mid depth instead..

Every club has to take 3 picks in as a minimum anyway so thats not unusual. And we are yet to see how many of these picks are rookie upgrades

Fitzpatrick is awful.
Yeah but we are one ruck short for the Magpies. A rookie list Fitzpatrick?
Dixon, Paddy, Lobbe, Jacko and Frampton. Maybe only Frampton to ruck Sanfl?

Gorringe or Fitzpatrick? There's not a lot out there.
