Hopefully they'll snare Treloar out from under the Pies and Eddie will finally have to open his eyes to the fact the biggest threat to equalisation is in his own back door.

Yeah but they full well know we are not going to pass on Mills, even at pick 1, thats what I mean, everyone knows this so why not try and screw us?
If they nominate pick one for Mills (because they believe he is worth it) and we dont match it, i'm sure they would be happy to take him at that anyway. Whether they take him at pick one, or we do, how are we being screwed?

I think the club would be all over bennell. Especislly if we can get our trade restrictions reduced
Dont think we would need our draft restrictions reduced to pick up Bennell (if we truly want him). His contract wouldnt be wirth a lot, and would certainly be under our restricted limit.

Because if a club bids say pick 1 we have to find a whole raft of draft picks from somewhere to get him but if they say call him at pick 7 we have to give a lot less.

You think Bennell will take $350? wouldn't have thought so...try around $500-$600.

Mills for me is a perfect time for us to call a bluff!!!!

Non-academy clubs will increasingly make those similar to them on the trade table overpay for academy selections until someone gets burned badly.

Having said that if he drops to pick 30, I think we should take him. Pick for talent trade for position.
No way. Some other time but not this time.
1. We would lose a great player.
2. We would having wasted over a million dollars on his development.
3. Future academy players will be discouraged from entering the academy as they are less likely to end up with us.
4. The academy brand will be severely damaged.

Also what makes you think Mills would wanna come back.

Sorry, it was attempt to sow seed that "maybe we wont match" (like pies did with Moore) as explained to McRobie ;)

Melksham could be a good copy. Not a world beater but caoabke of playing forward, middle and half back if required. Would be a good utility to cover any injuries

Not for me, no idea on his position. Had the same questions at AFL level. His game awareness is poor.

More worried about showing his boxing prowess off on the field than getting the ball.

Typical in-betweener really. Not fast enough to be outside, not smart enough to be inside and not versatile enough to play forward or back. He went from a borderline 2nd rounder to a top 10 pick off 1 performance in the TAC Grand Final. He has flopped.

Interesting listening to Road to the Draft podcast with Cal Twomey ..former Hawthorn recruiting manager Gary Buckenara doesn't even rate Callum Mills in his top 10 this year. He's not attached to any club now so he's fairly unbiased and seemed pretty forthcoming with his opinions.

I don't think you could rate Mills in the top 10 this year because he has only played 1.5/2 full games of football. But last year he was close to the best player, which is why he's so high.

If no one takes him, and it gets to our pick, should we wait until someone else bids on him so we can use our first round pick else where?
Wishful thinking much?

Maybe if he doesnt turn up to combine or changes his name......

Anyone else hear in Road to the draft the confirmation that Rioli tanked his combine and meetings to get to the hawks?

Its been known for a long time now, but its ok for the family club.

Hawks are shrewd

Didnt Tambling stay with Graeme Wright back in the day so people thought they wanted him, but they always wanted roughead and buddy

Without agendas Mills should comfortably slide in the 15-20 range but he wont.

Golly.

Thats a laugh.

Mills was objectively seen as better than hyena. Heeney was on a games played basis the rising star. its inconceivable that anyone would think he wasn't a top ten. I agree he could slide but only if you think other players have lifted or you think his injury has risked his future.
