List Mgmt. 2016 Delisted Free Agents

The list managers & coaches must see something in him, because they keep giving him new contracts. He's had 7 years on the list, and played just 24 AFL games in that period. They could have given him a "dead man walking" contract, like Grigg, last year - but they chose to give him 2 years. That's a long time for such a slim return.

Note that the AFC announced that they would continue to treat Shaw "cautiously" during the next preseason. It still looks dubious that he will be able to hit the ground running, unfortunately.

I agree that two years was a gamble with his history, but before his concussion issues he was getting some form and staying on the park injury free, I personally think we got this one right, but no team can predict multiple concussion and the chance of an early end to career.

IMO I would be very surprised and very happy if he gets back to playing any form of footy next year, I would hope the club has all the medical advise to have retained him.

Crap, that just makes it worse, thought it was just brought in and I had missed it...
Think i'm right, the upgrade still has to be formally noted at the Draft, given it's a formal AFL meeting ........either way, whether announced at the draft or not, it's still a list spot thats taken up

Nope ...i was wrong

His inside work/work in traffic is elite, it is just unfortunate that he is the king of soft tissue injuries, and not the best kick, though I wonder if the numerous soft tissue injuries have impacted that. Sans injuries I am confident he would be playing midfield. However at this stage it does seem a case of throwing good money after bad.

I'd prefer Templeton to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if we did something few people expect with a free agent
Is he really a need though?

Would have thought he would go to a club in need of small forwards - Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, etc.

HAWTHORN is circling delisted Adelaide midfielder Ricky Henderson.

After losing premiership stars Jordan Lewis, Sam Mitchell and Brad Hill in the trade period last month, the Hawks are looking to bolster their midfield depth with an experienced ball winner from the delisted free agency pool.

Henderson, 28, has played 90 games and was on the fringe of senior selection at Adelaide again in 2016, playing nine senior games.

He averaged 22 possessions a game this year but missed out on finals.

The Victorian sought a trade back home last month but was unsuccessful.

As a delisted free agent, he can now be added to the Hawks’ list for nothing.

Ricky Henderson could be on his way to Hawthorn.
The 188cm wingman half-back could step straight into Hawthorn’s new-look senior side next season along with fellow recruits Jaeger O’Meara, Tom Mitchell and Ty Vickery. Hawthorn will use pick 88 and 90 in this month’s national draft.

Huh? .....you do realise that since his hamstring surgery, he's had ZERO repercussions ......it's only the concussions that are in play now, and if the club medico's have cleared him, there's absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be on the list or playing
Didn't he miss about 15 games and not train much?

It's a bit early to celebrate his triumph over hamstring injuries when he has hardly been on the park to test it out

Templeton is a mid. He played a few AFL games as a small forward when he first came in for the Saints, which they seem to do with most of their midfielders. He doesn't have the big body of Barlow, but has pace and skills and fair scope for improvement. With Barlow what you see is what you get, and I can understand why we'd look at him, but I'm not really a fan.

But using statistics that you love ......facts are it's been 24 months since any hamstring injury ........he may have been in a coma for that time, but thems the absolute facts .......and we know statistics cannot possibly lie ;)

Word in the media is ..despite his Brownlow winning potential .....Templeton won't get picked up as a DFA
