Blight was talking Grand Finals last night and you have to be prepared to do something different.

Maybe Lynch should have moved to half back and someone like a Brown up forward?
Or at least a plan B or C when it isn't working!

That was really sapping. We went in with the same gameplan to a tee that we'd shown off all year. Not a single change up. Meanwhile Richmond went in with a plan specifically tailored to neuter us.

If there is a God we will get another chance and hopefully not go in with the exact same recipe everyone has been reading for 7 months.

Blight learned the hard way from his time at Geelong you have to be unpredictable in the big dance

Any chance we can get Blight to have a few catchups with Pyke to offer some words of wisdom...

Lynch absolutely killed it playing across half back for Glenelg. Smart player, reads the game well. We've never seen him there at AFL level, not as a change up or to halt momentum. We're so heavily boxed in to our structures that there is no room for any unforced change.

In x amount of games, who ever replaces Lynch will have the same attributes?

My point wa, we have a young key forward who can add something if he left.

Sorry for trying to add anything. My bad
And who on our current list fills the void left if Lynch goes??
He's a very unique player with his tank and ability to find space.

The last 2 years he's been key to the Don's game plan of fast transition from defence to attack so we'd need to find a replacement or re-jig our game plan which in the main has been very successful.

So you would expect the club to dig deep and pay him his worth.

If he didn’t agree to terms, not low balling him to trade him anyway but if HE chose to leave, trading him wouldn’t be such a bad outcome.

I honestly don't think it was so much our game plan that failed I think there were just too many of our players that didn't bring their A game and the right mindset on the day.

That’s what shits me about most modern coaches, they don’t actually coach, they instruct. They instruct a game plan and structures at training and they stick with it no matter what.

FFS when the game is sinking make some ****ing moves, doing nothing whilst your team is getting spanked in a GF is just ****ing dumb.

It was also structures. Too big up forward, which meant they just waltzed out of defence.

Lynch to act as a road block in defence and Brown to shut down Houli could have been enough to stop their momentum.

Or Richmond played really good footy. Maybe its a case of their best was far too good.

We didn’t fail, they were successful. Why does everyone have to be negative about every little thing.

Coaches should build some flexibility into their game plan.

Embley and Hunter forward weren't random, spur of the moment hail marys. They were calculated, rehearsed moves.

Need to expand our playbook.

Should be in the box on game day no question
Yeah, I was thinking pay him as a consultant to sit in the box come finals. What have we got to lose?

True. He does it well. Most of the time. But he let us down in the granny under only the pressure he created in his own head most of the time.

If he is anchoring on a 5 year deal like best mate JJ I wouldn't be buying what he's selling

Yeah I can see where you’re coming from

I’d hate JJ to mean we were gun shy about proper, deserving players though

Not sure it would have made any difference given we had 3 players carrying I injuries by quarter time... but I still like a coach who will mix it up if plan A isn't working.

We did it during the year in other games, so why not the grand final when it really mattered?

doesn't have the closing speed to play HB at AFL level

This might go down as your finest post.

So when the majority of our players played way below standard, our coaches did nothing, they didn’t fail?

And losing a Grand Final so poorly after not playing in one for 20 years isn’t a little thing. Ask the devastated players if it was a little thing.

Fair dinkum, words fail me.

I’d seriously consider trading Tom Lynch as well if Rory Sloane walked out the door as well.

We have Darcy Fogerty ready to step into that role.

If we choose to trade Lynch, what would he be worth?

That would also give us close to $1.4 - $1.5 Million a year in salary cap space to recruit someone.
Surely u need to keep the good players like Lynch. He will help win a flag. You just dont trade talent.

He's quicker than Lever. Wouldn't be a flanker.

However Lever game is based around intercept marking or leaving his man and intercept marking creating a 2-1 contest elsewhere, not sure this would be T-Shirts game if he played HB

I actually recalled T-Shirt playing some quality games in the Glenelg midfield, he was raking up the clearaces

That's what he did for Glenelg. Left his man and took heaps of marks. Just read the game better than his opponent.

Just a smart player. Could impact in many areas. Would think he'd be effective on a wing too. He's excellent at what he does but a few teams have specifically targeted him and tagged him. So you'd think another way into the game for him would be good.

The Fog could play HF next year however he wouldn't be able to play the HF position in the same role that Lynch is playing for the team

You look at the glass as half empty. Instead of looking at it as half full.

Your negativity is so bad, you won’t allow yourself to even acknowledge how good Richmond were. Only option according to you was us losing.
