Is Aaron Naughton a possibility at 6? I have heard he is the best natural key defender in the draft, although he is a WA boy so go home factor provides a risk.

I haven't spent a great deal of time watching many highlights packages but 6 for me is Balta

I have heard the rumour about Schache in a 3 way trade and it makes some sense but the issue how do collingwood deliver it.

I wouldn't want Scharenberg involved but it's hard to see how he's not. It's certainly the simplest solution and if he has indicated to the club he will go next year then you'd pull the trigger. Otherwise getting Broomhead, Aish our pick 36 and / or 2018 picks could maybe solve it.

In all this also have to wonder where it leaves Mason Cox. If we did get Schache would we look at trading Cox for a pick from Lions and then package that up with some other stuff. It's an about turn but it's an option I would think about. You could sign Spencer as a back up.

One kid from Adelaide I'd like is Wigg. Just what we need.

The other issue is the drums are still beating around Lynch.

If as Scodog suggests there was a 3 way involving Pies, Lions, Crows I wouldn’t see a need to involve Shaz. I’d imagine it would be something like:

Pies get Schache & 16, lose pick 6
Lions get Cameron, lose Schache
Crows get pick 6, lose Cameron & pick 16
Involve shuffling of later picks if needed.

Personally I’d prefer 12&18 for 6 and Crows / Lions can just go 19 (assumed for Rockliff) for Cameron and shuffle picks. Or just keep pick 6.

After delisting McCarthy, Schade & Keeffe we must be getting at least some KP depth somewhere.

so 5 or 6 might be a bit of a stretch. Can't remember if it was Naughton or Allen (the two top WA prospects) that I read their dad lives in SA or somewhere interstate (ie not WA) so there was less perceived go home factor than your average WA prospect.

He also came 4th Smartspeed 20-metre sprint in 2.91 seconds.
He also came equal first in the smartspeed agility test - 8.10.

All very good scores for a KPF Height 196cm and weight 98kg, he's only just turn 18 too.

All well and good but can he actually football? Jesse White was a natural athlete too...

no knock on Naughton personally, but I wouldn't be using such a high pick for a key defender unless they were super special, which I don't believe he is.

If he did a Marsh and walked away from his contract planning to play at VFL level until his contract is up that would be it for him. He definitely does not have the resilience to be a part time footballer with a day job. Either way I don't see him in Brisbane next year.

Hunter Clark while I like his character is everything we don't need - another mid who is a poor kick. Played half-back at times but his foot skills there are a liability.

Doubt they'll be in the hunt for Brayshaw unless they screw the pooch on Port in a Watts deal and climb back into the 1st round.

The kid's a beast. Could be anything!!

After his injury and then subsequent drop in form due likely to it, I would say a real chance still being there at 6.

Personally I wouldn’t pick Stephenson and I wouldn’t take Schache, I think he’s not worth the risk of giving up pick 6. Just doesn’t seem all there. Would love to get Richards but he’ll be gone before 36.

Just watched Coffield's highlights, wowee. His poise is so good. He could be what Dale Thomas was for a year, and plays similar to Brendan Goddard.
I love Fogarty he's a bull too. Although, I know we really need a KPP. My preference( in order): Coffield, Fogarty and Balta.

Yeah form was good in the back in of the TAC cup. Few people were saying he could have pushed for around pick 10 if he had played the champs. I’d say he’d be in the 15-30 range.

For mine I think he is a talent but he doesn't want it enough and the risks are therefore huge. Added to that is the modern game demands an ability to compete at ground level and he doesn't show that.

That pick 6 is super valuable because it puts guys like Cerra, Stephenson, Fogarty, Brander, Coffield and Bonar in the mix. They are all high quality players.

One name that I would be interested in them looking at is Sam Collins. I liked his work at Fremantle and surprised been delisted.

What do you see as Baltas issues?

I'll defer to you judgment on Stephenson. Didak was another who was a good kick that turned it over a lot because he was aggressive with his decision making. It created havoc. I do question if another iffy kick is someone we can afford to have just because our midfield already has poor users. Treloar, Adams, Greenwood.

What do you see as Branders big advantage over other key positions in this draft?

Where do you see Bonar finding his best position at AFL?

I dont think at this stage he is a forward. When I watch him forward he has a habit of getting lost. I think the group think (which I agree with) is at this stage he should be started as a key back and in that case I see Brander as the better option. His work rate I think is excellent and I reckon he's done well this year with a lot of challenges put in front of him. He is more capable forward than Balta and equally good in defence. Having said that Balta excites me. His scope is massive but a club is going to have to back their system in.

I think Bonar can get his fitness to the right level you are looking at a big strong contested ball winner in the middle who has some speed on the outside and can hurt offensively.

Of your 6 names for pick 6 I would be okay with any of them except Cerra. Just seems to me too similar to guys we've already got and therefore least list need. Other mids at least have a bit of pace as a point of difference. Makes me think of Luke Dunstan from Saints - already 69 games from four years and not yet 23 so seems destined for a very solid career but at 6 I don't want solid in an area we are overstocked (Pendles, Wells, Treloar, Sidey, JDG, Adams, Wills, Greenwood, Thomas, potentially Sier), I want to fill a hole or provide some X factor. Would even prefer Balta, Richards or O'Brien over Cerra (not that I'd take Richards or O'Brien at 6). Take Cerra and you're playing him out of position or pushing another guy to wrong position or VFL, thus not improving our 22 much.

Happy with Collins as DFA esp if 2016 version rather than 2017. Obviously depends on what went wrong in 2nd season.

What reviews have you been reading? Genuine question as you are first to raise this query, although I note one of two reviews I've seen below does include utility.

Balta is yet another player who heads to the Draft with a question mark over exactly where he is best deployed, but looks certain to go early based purely on physicality. There are few players of his size that possess the explosive pace and agility that Balta has, and on a number of occasions this year he has turned games on their heads with his speed, agility and thumping right boot. He is a great mark overhead, and his vertical leap makes him a tough matchup when forward and also competitive when rucking – an area where he has some very nice traits. When defending, his attack out of defence can be great to watch, however, he relies heavily on his physical attributes rather than positional nous to win contests.

The athletic tall from the Calder Cannons has shown patches of his best at different stages across the season, and is seen as being a backman at the next level. He can jump high and has been used in the ruck at times as a pinch-hitter, and he's enjoyed the freedom of that that position given he can use his athleticism more. Balta will divide some recruiters, but he has a long kick that can clear congestion and there's plenty to work with.

I'd argue from the snippets that I've seen, Schache has more ground level ability and potential than Tom Lynch.

Played KPF, KPD and through the ruck all year and averaged about 12 disposals. Managed a 3 goal 20 disposal game vs Gippsland. Going by his numbers I’d say inconsistency is more a problem than his ability to actually find the ball, but that was always going to be a given with him being so raw.
