Maynard who goes to midfield. Maynard replaces Greenwood who goes to the VFL. There isn't a lot of competition back there. We were playing Thomas at back pocket at one point late in the season.

It'd look like this:

FB: ~ Howe ~ Dunn ~ Crisp
HB: ~ Shaz ~ Reid ~ Coffield

Int: Varcoe or Murray.

Unless shaz has a huge preseason he is behind Langdon.
And Coffield is behind them.

Different type of player than Shaz and Langdon so I see room for both. Coffield would be competing with Crisp, Maynard, Ramsay, Sinclair, Murray, Varcoe. That's how I see it anyway.

Personally l like Coffield from what l have read and little l have watched, but do not know a lot about him

Very quick first 20m, he recorded 2.91s at the combine.

That's how I understand it yes. That's how i'd play him. Has the pace for the small forwards and uses that pace well defensively apparently. But like you i'm going off reviews and highlights.

Ran a 2.92 20m sprint. Not Jonathan Marsh fast, but still bloody quick nonetheless.

You'd have to think pick 61 could be a live pick now given that we traded for pick 70.

We'll likely use late picks to upgrade Cox and Thomas.

So if Tyler Brown doesn't get selected/bid on in the National Draft am I right in saying that we just then nominate him as one of our rookie picks?

Would this be a better option for us or would it just be easier to add him to the main list with our last live pick (if no bid before hand)?

I was talking about purposely trading them overs for another player so that they don't force us to trade for Lynch.

ie. as suggested by Apex, they take the compensation for Lynch and we give them our first pick for Fiorini. They get two first picks for Lynch essentially. AFL should block the Fiorini deal.

Even then though, they are getting unders for Lynch. Less than two first picks when he's worth two and more.

I don't see a realistic scenario where the Suns simply accept the compo pick rather than forcing us to trade, unfortunately. Only hope is if we can blow them out of the water with the contract. Though that's not very hopeful to me as we are over paying for an already over valued type of player.

I'm not fussed about the AFL blocking a deal where we overpay for a fringe player to sweeten a Lynch FA deal. By that stage, the Lynch trade would be locked away, we just shrug and say "oh well, we tried". What are they going to do? We'd just need to delay the Lynch deal until close to when FA closes.

My thoughts:

1. I'm not keen on taking Naughton at 6 - I think Freo may take him at 5 anyway
2. I don't think Bonar will be taken in top 10 - more so 15-25 mark IMO due to injury run
3. I am super keen on Balta but seems he is ranked 15-20 and I don't think the club would take him at 6
4. I would be happy to take Coffield at 6
5. Jarrod Brander does nothing for me - I don't want him.
6. I would be open to landing a gun mid at 6 if someone like Stephenson, Dow or Cerra are available
