I’ll be gutted if we go for Naughton. Every time I see him kick I want to claw my eyes out.

His kicking is unsightly, but his WAFL stuff has been incredibly strong. He is of the KPPs the highest probability of an AFL career and the most ready based on what he was doing, featuring in the bests and getting some seriously good numbers while still mostly beating his opponent. Excellent athlete, strong in the 1v1s. There is a lot to like. And you have to remember, most of today's great key defenders were awful kicks when they entered the league - Alex Rance, Tom McDonald. While technically poor getting that height on his kicks, the results from Naughton at least are more reliable.

If Collingwood take Naughton, I won't be hating on the pick, it's probably the most solid pick they could make and the % choice, it's just perhaps not as exciting as the game-changing sort of thing you can get from Balta.

Wished we had done some trading down to get two picks, never mind.
Coffield or Fogarty l will be happy.
Just wish we could have gotten balta as well, need his run from the back field to set play up.

Is a ‘DFA’ a delisted free agent? If it is, they are only stop gaps. You need to draft one to be a 10 year player. Unless one of the top 4 or 5 midfielders slide, I’d be just drafting KPP with the first 2 picks. Who is the best genuine KPP? If it’s Bander then I expect the Pies drafting him in the absence of the above. That’s why they probably didn’t entertain swapping out of pick 6. And to be honest, they didn’t seem too concerned about upgrading the 3rd round into something higher, so that must be confident that they next pick will land them another tall.
What role do we want the KPP to take on? Is he the target dedpcinside 50m or the leading CHF that connects with the backline to create over lap? If so, Cox, Moore and our mid sized forwards can do this.
Does the KPP play back? Dunne and Goldy held up ok this year. Moore can go back if Lynch ends up on our door step next year as well as any potential first rounder in 2018 who may be a better 10 year player than what is available this year).

If the KPP’s are better quality next year, then I’d prefer to look for our 10 year player in that draft and go with a stop gap this year. I’d even consider re-rookie Keeffe as a defender. Don’t want to spend Pick 6 on a pure stopper.

One question Knight.....Naughton looks like a clean cut solid citizen. Balta looks like a bit more of a mongrel? Am I right?
Cos I'd just draft a mongrel everytime

With Freo having 2 picks in the top 5, I wonder if they use only one on a midfielder? That would be our only chance to get someone like Cerra (although with a name like that I can see the blues drafting him).

I keep resigning myself to the fact that we’ll overlook Balta, but then you describe him and it makes me want him even more.

Really want Hine to do a signature reach with this kid.

The Photoshop factory is working as hard as it can to make him slide to 38, but we can only work with what we're given, you know?

Now, were he rumoured to frequent the same dairy that Kirby gets his cheese from, then that would be a different story...

I’ll be gutted if we go for Naughton. Every time I see him kick I want to claw my eyes out.

Good thing you only have short little pink jellybean arms, then...:p

What's the deal with Trent Mckenzie will he be delisted? If so I'd have a hard look at him.

Well, his contract runs out at midnight on All Hallows' Eve and has not (it seems) been offered a new one yet and did not attract a buyer at the trade table, so he may very well get a look as a DFA.

Isn't he just Oxley, though...?

While complicated for the common punter, the points/picks game was clearly at the forefront of the Magpies’ trade strategy.

“The equation stacked up,” Hine put simply.

And while it may take a while to play out, the fruits of playing the patience game may lead to a new batch of talented Collingwood youngsters joining an already young, emerging list.

It makes the National Draft on November 24 a compelling watch for all those hoping for greater Black and White success in 2018 and beyond.

Can't wait till the draft. Its exciting having a top 6 pick again. Especially because it seems so even from 4 to 10 with lots of players who I would love for Bucks to hand a guernsey to on draft night.

If you'd told me at the start of the year that we had pick 6 and didn't pick a KPP I'd have been pissed off. Now I would prefer to overlook the most highly touted KPP players in Brander and Naughton

I'd love Forgarty or Coffield. I would love a slider like Cerra. I would love a player like Stephenson. Its disappointing we can only take one of them!

And even if we take Brander I could definitely live with that because he does meet a list need even if I'm not sure he's the one to fill it.

They have lost Barlow Mzungu and Weller. Two middle men would be handy for them.

Hine is trying to spin it as if we’ve come out well in the trade. Make no mistake Sydney shafted us. Your average fan can understand that but they are trying to say we didn’t get shafted with all the points talk. It’s pretty poor by the club really to be trying to say your average punter doesn’t understand what’s going on.

So far I've seen phantom drafts with us taking Coffield, Fogarty, Naughton and now Cerra.

Saw last night Bishop was calling Fogarty "overrated" to where people commonly rank him. Not sure how overrated, though... maybe outside the top ten.

Still not sure who I want! Saw a Cerra highlight video and he looks good, but I can't see him sliding to us on what I keep reading.

I'd be happy with Cerra if he's still available at pick 6. Looks pretty classy. I could see Carlton, North or Freo picking him before us though.

Although Barlow and Muzungo were gone a couple of years ago. With Naughton they have a key backman and a WA boy. Maybe a ready replacement for Johnson.

I can see one of the top 5 mids sliding to 6 purely due to my view above regarding Freo. That is them using pick 5 on Naughton. If one of the 5 don’t slide, I wouldn’t be too disappointed with Naughton or Bander.

I think Coffield is a very solid pick.

Not only is he solid though, but he has some really elite traits, such as he speed, height and kicking. So he is more than just solid, he actually has some match-winning traits.

Impossible draft to pick, which is why like a poster above I wish we had looked to downgrade pick 6 to two later picks. Anyway, can't wait to see what evolves.

Yeah but if you do the double downgrade all those players you are mentioning are gone...
