Bit harsh... people getting argumentative with him then cracking it.

His original comments we pretty clear IMO.
Hey I can't talk because I can't stop myself argueing but when you come on and read through 10 pages and most of the posts are two people saying the same thing over and over it's ******* annoying. I wish I would do a Trav, he said what he wNted and shut up. That takes restraint I don't have.

100% that bit sounds awesome but there's more to it than that - I'm great mates with a now retired top 5 pick and the pressure and expectations that come with that are huge - I saw it first hand. Throw in the fitness expectations plus the sacrifices that need to be made in terms of not seeing your family and high school mates and some kids just aren't cut out for it.

Also My mate was drafted by the team he supported in his home state so he had it easy compared to plenty of others.
look its not for everyone ... to be an AFL footballer is (and should be) bloody hard to do but as much as its hard for the player the club also puts in an investment in the player so that investment has to be respected

Sorry but where is the rules does it say that after 2 years you cant say you want to go to a certain club? You have finished your contract so you can try and get to the club of your choice. Its nothing like anything you said. I think we are arguing over completely different things. I haven't once suggested a player coming into the AFL should pick the club of his choice. I have actually said that some recruiters were weak not taking Merrett at the draft. What I am saying is players can have the right to choose their club after the contract or in this case when both parties are happy to part ways. Whether he gets there is no certainty but both clubs will try to get the deal done and if they cant then bad luck for the player. Now if anyone can tell me why a player cant say the club of choice then we are discussing the right situation.
if the player is off contact sure ... but if the player is in year one of a three year contract then sorry sunshine we respect your want to go home but we will tell you what club in your home town you are going ...

There must be so much more to this whole lever thing than meets the eye. It just doesn't add up.

The animosity towards him is bizarre.
It looks to me that the club is imploding. Carried so much emotion and baggage from recent tragedies and adversity that a loss in the grand final and loss of players and they are turning on each other.

Remember this is their first grand final loss!

If schache picks Collingwood

Lions get 6. Pies get schache and 18

1 and 12 for 7 and 8 and 2018 2nd

Lions get 3 consecutive picks- 6,7 and 8
I feel like going all the way to 1 with such a big cost is a bit of a waste (partIcularly because we would have to give more than that). Albeit you can’t choose who will cough up a high pick .... pick 3 sounds delicious with Dow, LDU or Rayner.

The kid is contracted and happy to stay or so Brisbane say, he has protected them by signing a 2 year extension.

Brisbane are happy to trade him and he's happy to go if the right trade can be made, Collingwood have pick 6 that with something coming back would make Brisbane very happy.

Why is the kid a mummy's boy because he wants to play his football in his home state closer to his family, seems pretty reasonable to me.
Well for starters he left his teammates in the lurch for the GF because he was "tired" and then went on early holidays...

No do your research...Rayner said he'd be happy to move to Brisbane/GC etc...

Listening to Trade Radio and the consensus their is that Josh Schache is worth a pick between 15 to 20

Given the kid is contracted, a number 2 draft pick only a few years back and likely the best KPF if he was in this draft then surely Brisbane would want more??

Carlton and Collingwood are super interested so I would be quite happy to offer Carlton our pick 8 and a future 2nd or 3rd rounder for their pick 3

The points value is equal if we give them our future 2nd rounder but if Carlton are desperate they may be happy with future 3rd which is slightly in our favor

Carlton could then give Brisbane pick 8 for Schache which I think is around the mark for the reasons stated above

So St.Kilda - Out Pick 8 and future 3rd rounder - In Pick 3
Carlton - Out Pick 3 - In Schache and future 3rd rounder
Brisbane - Out Schache - In Pick 8

We go to draft with pick 3 & 7

Rayner has apparently made it clear that he doesn't want to go interstate so we potentially get him with pick 3 - then pick 7 on Bonar, Coffield or Cerra

I totally agree but from what I believe this contract was signed so it would suit both parties if it couldn't work out and listening to the guy from Brisbane today suggests they are happy to work with a club. The funny thing is channel 7 didn't even mention the pies. They said carlton and the tigers so we would be discussing something that hasn't actually happened. I gather you are fine with Lever saying he wants to go to Melbourne.

Pavlich famously told Freo not to pick him as he wanted to stay in SA or play in Melbourne.. but they stuck to their guns .. once he got to freo they hooked him up with a girlfriend moved him into a share house with some peers who he developed strong friendships with and then each time he was up for his contract they paid him what he was worth without playing any games ...
People under estimate how liveable Perth is as well, especially when you're a high profile footballer. Sun, surf, a trip to Melbourne every three weeks. Fans who take a real shine to you if you play good football. I don't think it's a coincidence that a lot of interstate footballers start and finish their careers there.

I think that's a bit of mistake based on the experts claiming that Queensland teams prefer the country Vic kids because they don't get as desperate to go home. You should have told him to tank by saying that he'd only play in Victoria by now. Bad Form coops.

if he is off contract then fine choose your destination that best suits you as a player so if Melbourne are paying $50k more go there but if you ar on contract and you are using the excuse that you are homesick to get traded then i strongly believe its the clubs interest that should be the catered for andthe club should have the choice to either hold you to that contract, send your to the highest bidder in your state or let you sit out the year ...

i remember a footy scout once saying that if a player is playing consistant footy and building a profile you are unlikely to see him move... now days the game has changed and its more about the best deal for the player ..

Just one thing I would like to you and anyone else happy to answer. Would you be happy being forced into your first job at a company that is interstate and may have no interest in being there? My answer would be no. Would you like to go to the company of your choice? My answer is yes.
Why did you ask the forum if you were going to answer your own questions ?

GO LISTEN TO CAM RAYNERS interview last week on AFL.com.au , then come back and apologize and maybe you should do your research aswell.

I still think bugger all players move. It will be something like 30 or 40 this year and most of them will probably be because its suits both parties.

Don't get angry dude, I was joking with you. You said you knew him. I just said the guy must have heard that the Queensland clubs prefer country kids because of the go home factor. Obviously CR wants to go to Queensland, I will try not to joke about it young fella.
