It's funny how we fret about drafting lads whose weight is in the low 70s kgs. The upcoming bout between Mundine and Horn is middleweight, ie 70 - 73kg :D
But about 2% bodyfat.

I got the shock of my life when I went to a night of Olympic boxing in Sydney, watched about 20 bouts across just about all weight divisions, and saw what weight division blokes were in and how ripped they were for that "light" weight.

6 feet - 183 cms and 70kgs is pretty normal height/weight in boxing. You want 183cm AFL player, play at between 80kgs and 85kgs depending on what position they play and how much punishment they take if an on-baller.

I found it reassuring to hear on the road to the draft review episode that we would have been looking to trade in and grab Bailey Williams had he slide much lower that the Eagles pick. Hopefully a sign that we will be all over the talls in next year’s draft.

You'll notice that not many of those 40 odd players are much good. If no other club wanted you, getting paid to play football on the Gold Coast sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
IMO all GC have to do is start winning and they will keep them.

In any other walk of life outside footy ... most people would actually prefer to live there than cold old Melbourne.
Many Vics aspire to move to sunny QLD..
Now if it was Hobart fair enough..
But Gold Coast is a desired destination to live in and when you live there you would never consider relocating to SA or Vic

As far as playing in front of crowds... well that's every second weekend?
If they perhaps could get Sydney's winning culture then all would be well and they will retain the players.

If they start winning a lot they could create an us versus them mentality which suits small clubs
( ahem)

Win and they stay

I’m not yet sold on next years tall forwards.

We definitely need to build our stocks in that position but I don’t think there is a lot of key forwards putting themselves up the pointy end of the draft just yet

Caleb Serong pls. Midfielder forward who is constantly involved in play, quick and dangerous. And will Gould. They’re my early favs.

Will gould needs to grow 4+cm before i get too excited

I disagree

Besides the fact his build strength and smarts allow him to play taller than his 190cms I don’t subscribe to that because he doesn’t need to be a key defender to make it.

4 cms might just be the difference between him being a chb or a 3rd tall flanker.

The Henley v pac gf I saw a guy who could be a tall midfielder if he wanted to.

Be handy if Jackson Mead has a growth spurt and ends up similar size to his dad. Like Tredrea went from a winger to a key forward in a year.

don't get me wrong i think he'll be picked up but his height will dictate if he goes top 20 or lower
I think his disposal is rushed at times and at champs level came off clumsy almost

His draft range is very open right now no doubt

I’m still very very keen on him.

He will be a monster at afl level too. As big as he is now he has a lot of puppy fat that can become muscle. He will be that much bigger than guys at afl level when he gets there as well.
