so i went to all the trouble of downloading instagram...how the **** do you see a story? I only see photo's and facebook level numpty comments?

Search for, and follow the West Coast Eagles account. Then return to your home page. At the top of your feed will be a little circle of WCEs story. Click that and it'll run through various photos and videos from yesterday's training session

Thanks for the report.

Is there a chance that we can have a separate thread just for training reports?
Can be hard to trawl through all the trash to find these as they can get lost.

Thread created here and stickied for easy reference

Nah just leave it in the preseason thread. The s**t talk will end up in the new training thread anyway

It's a good idea and the s**t talk can easily be deleted or moved

So we're supposed to go hit that thread up, THEN we can come back into this thread just so we can talk about it?

How's that make sense? This is the pre season discussion thread. The reports and subsequent chat happen here.

Why create another thread? Because 1 poster has a hard time over nothing and makes an issue of it?

Simpson literally says that he is liking the look of our small forwards and from that you interpret he's going tall?
Sounds like you've already got an opinion about what's going to happen and nothing will change that...why bother commenting?

Woosha played in a different era where running through the man was part of the job, can't do that as much these days.
I would say Hurn is one of the players who does it more than others, pretty sure he's been rubbed out a few times.

Hitting the man all the time takes a bit out of your body, look at Waters, he hit in harder than most and was done before 30.

Why bother commenting and telling me that when you sir—ee are wrong. Let alone mixing it with a reply to someone else. He said we had too many mids last year.... I’d say we lacked mids. Enjoy interpreting my posts as dead serious and not knowing when I half take the piss aye

That poster will remain nameless so don’t name and shame him/her ..

Hear hear

Sack Woosha

No he's not, hes soft as ****. He hardly ever uses his physique to bust open packs or put people on thier ass and make them think twice about going near the footy when he's around, thats what he should be doing, just like Woosha did. Blokes walk taller when someone like Woosh is playing next to them.
Yes but we're a corralling team and a captain must lead by example

I think a better solution would be a list of links to the relevant posts in the OP...?

All due respect, but with changes to rules and tactics the game Worsfold played is nothing like today's game. Hurn wouldn't be available to play on a regular basis if he tried to emulate the #24.

You obviously didnt read my other post about the rule changes removing the off the play stuff and head high contact but still being able to hit someone hard legally..

I run this website - deal with it.

(also people can always post the reports in this thread, and copy it to the sticky so people can just read that)

Works for me .

Big assumption that any of those bar Venables can legit run through the midfield though.

What is interesting is Simo saying we played too many mids which we can only presume playing mids as forwards or backs.

Rioli and Ryan are specialist forwards who can pinch hit up the ground.

Ah chee and Venables are taller mids who can pinch hit / rest forward.

All have good pace and can tackle, Ryan maybe still needs to lift 5% in that area.

Here is hoping we have a better mix of specialist forwards and mids but most importantly faster players all round.

What I heard Simmo saying is that we had too many mids in 2017 playing as a forward. The likes of Sheed, Partington, Mutimer, Redden, Priddis, etc are not really players with the right attributes to play in the attacking area.

Of the players being mentioned, Rioli and Ryan are true small forwards but will offer nothing to our midfield rotations. No drama - pretty clear based on their history. That will mean they need to have even better endurance so that the rotations are being used by the players who need the rest because they are playing on the ball and covering more ground. Not sure if we can have a lot of faith in either Rioli or Ryan in the endurance stakes just yet so both need to be fixing the endurance issue and making sure that that will be addressed over the summer. Not as if these are 18 year olds that are coming out of TAC or Colts.

In terms of Petruccelle and Brayshaw, I like some of their attributes but really not sure they will be knocking on the door in 12 months. If you expect that - you may be disappointed.

I have a feeling petruccelle will play sooner than some on here believe. It won't take long for him to build up to the fitness levels to play as a defensive small forward. Its a role a young player can play if they have the pace and skill. An injury to Cripps and Rioli and I wouldnt be surprised at all to see Petro get a game mid season if he can build some form in the WAFL.

I remember Simpson last year talking about needing more "natural forwards"... hoping Rioli Ryan Waterman will be used with JK, JD, LeCras in some combination somehow

I'm happy to hear Vozzo say Oscar was "ripping up in the gym" and "doing a hell of a lot of swimming". It just kind of gives the impression that Oscar really wants to do well.
