I wouldn’t be averse to trading, but our midfield is the major issue I reckon.

Where is the evidence we courted him. I am more inclined to believe he courted us as ess wouldn't extend his deal.

I don't agree. You are making 2x agreements to get a trade.

First part was getting Joe on board.

Last part was getting a agreement from Essendon.

if he came to harley then its a different story

i tend to thimk quality players wants in, then grab him pay overs and deal with it

can also trade in next year etc

i can see the hesitation some have, but good clubs take risks imo

In fairness, backing the list you've built in and taking a chance on a draftee is just as much of a risk. It's a more calculated, patient risk, but a risk nonetheless.

Rebuild in the draft - not like we are challenging anyway. Get some time into the bright spots like Florent, Blakey, Hayward, Rowbottom, Dawson and that gun pick 5.

As a supporter I love watching our young players develop and emerge as stars. Sure it's great to recruit stars but it takes a while for them to grow on me and will never have the same connection to me as our home grown players.
