We need to look at dealing our first next year for some picks this year.

Not start of 1st round - it would be immediately after Essendon’s first round pick position (based on ladder position i.e. even if they traded firsts, the compo would still be after where their ladder position pick was).

Not so sure, he signed a new 3 year contract on what would of been decent money at the start of this year.

If the club took 100% of the contract, I'm sure the Pies would relent on the asking price as it basically solves their cap issues.

He's finished 5th in the Copeland the last 2 seasons as a 22 and 23 year old.

The likelihood of your scenario panning out is fairly low, would cost a lot in terms of picks. And as you said, he just signed a new contract and he’s a valuable player, he would still cost us a lot.

Would have to be with a future first and something else, if it was to work.
