I agree with you, Jed is certainly fourth in the pecking order. Equally, there is something to be said about having a good rotation of players through the centre circle.

Used to pull my hair out at Brad putting the same three in there at the start of quarters and after every goal.

If the Constable news is true, I wouldn't mind seeing:
- A Rotation: Cunners, Jed, Jy
- B Rotation: LDU, Constable, Bonar

B Rotation has a heap of chemistry from their Haileybury days and I am bullish on Bonar (acknowledge that this is slightly unpopular).

Not to mention that after centre bounces, you see a heap more people around the ball for clearances anyway.

I should also highlight that this is partly why I think we could afford to be more aggressive with moving on someone like Dumont.

You definitely need a much broader group of mids than just 3, obviously, chemistry and synergy is important as well. You have 2 followers, one in the middle, two wingmen, at least three on the PINE and you have probably at least two of the forwards who are quasi-midfielders, ie we may have Thomas, Scott, Taylor, etc who will rotate through the middle.

Then you will need extra players pushing up from the VFL, you would hope most of the AFL listed VFL crew will be young draftees.

I think we will still draft 3 or 4 mids/running players from the draft, depending what we can do during this trade/free agency period.

If Geelong do not want Constable and he would be someone you can get with a later pick then I don't really mind, I would hope we do something a lot better out of the Higgins trade. I wouldn't try and combine them because that would de-value what we could possibly get for Higgins. I would look at Constable later on but if he wanted to go somewhere where he would be playing seniors in 2021, then North probably isn't it. I think even Bonar is going to struggle for a spot in the seniors without us having horrific injuries.

North fans: when Ben Cunnington is injured/gets tagged, we are exposed as he has to do too much
Also North fans: we can't recruit a VFL quality player that plays the same position as Ben Cunnington

FIFY.

Adelaide handed end of second-round compensation pick for Rory Atkins’ departure to Gold Coast. Huge result for the Crows @AFLcomau @traderadio

Reeks of a "look, we can't give you pick two as compo for Crouch, so why don't we sweeten the Atkins compo a bit instead?" dose of the AFL's special herbs and spices.

It’s the modern game, you need at least 10/12 running through the middle each game.
all the guys need to be able to play multiple roles, adding a 191cm developing mid to the team isn’t the problem.

It is if he is slow.

Hehe, hope you aren't referring to me. I want us to recruit another inside mid, like O'Driscoll.

I am not opposed to get him, just don't think we should do it for Higgins. Cats don't want him and we can look at him with a later round pick. It would just devalue the Higgins deal, pushing whatever we can get from Geelong further down. That suits Geelong, not us.

He also has to accept he would be a long way off getting games for us. I just don't see it being in his best interest. It is like Preuss going to Melbourne because he couldn't get a game with Goldy in his way... Gawn was a bigger obstacle.

Worth also comparing him with LDU - they have pretty similar numbers & if you compare career stats, Constable's actually look a bit better. Obviously doesn't mean everything given LDU's injury and obvious upside, however no question Constable's numbers for a 21 year old 190cm inside mid are good.

Flick the Clark to north instead of picks

On iPhone using BigFooty.com mobile app
Jordan Clark would be a very nice get

Outside run and carry - slots straight in to play Higgins role
