They want Hollands. It was mentioned on Trade Radio that they're trying to move higher up draft to Nab him.

They have specific needs now due to many years of building. We have lots of needs and hence pick 5 plus another first next year allows up to build quality quickly.

Hopefully we keep 2 and take Hollands ourselves. He has genuine best player in the competition upside and Bont/Danger/Fyfe size to go with it.

Daniel is a good player. Couldn't defend a paper bag but great with ball in hand.

You seem overly concerned with bidding on Campbell but if you have seen him (I haven't) and rate him that highly then ok. I just hope we only bid if we truly think he is the best player available

Daniel gets and distributes, yeah we all know he doesn’t tackle like Neilson.
I don’t care about the bid, but that is the only way we get him, the only chance we have is to bid at 2 and force Sydney’s hand, and we either get a silky hard nut or we cost Sydney, either way we win, IMO we win more if Sydney don’t match.

Don't stress about it. They're trying to suggest that GWS will trade us 8 and 10 for 2 because "The Roos could be tempted to trade No.2 for two later selections in the top-10 as they look to replace as many as 13 players who are on the way out".

It's abysmally dumb.

To add to this, it's an Exhibit A difference between speculation and reporting. This from the Herald Sun is pure speculation:

"The no 8 pick would be a prized speculation for GWS because the club could package it with no 10 and offer it to North Melbourne for no 2. The Roos could be tempted to trade no 2 for two later selections in the top-10 as they look to replace as many as 13 players who are on the way out."

This from The Age is actual reporting:

"Meanwhile, Gold Coast have sounded out North Melbourne about the prospect of trading for the Kangaroos' pick two, sources familiar with the situation have confirmed."

Language tells you the story on whether it's worth paying attention to.

Higgins is contracted, hasn't fallen out with the Club and his value to us has increased because of our sudden change in list demographic. A late - take it or leave it - second rounder has absolutely no appeal nor does waiting around until the Cats sort out the Cameron mess. Personally, I'd give them 24 hours to cut the s%#t and hand over pick 20. If they don't, we retain a class player and they'll soon learn not to treat us like third rate amateurs.

Can one of you wealthy individuals share this story for us plebs?

The sooner the Herald Sun dies in the ass the sooner our club can stop being associated with it, in any sense.

If list cuts are down to 38 and we lose brown and higgo then we actually only have 7 spots to fill which isn't hard to do via the draft let alone have trade and psd to come aswell

"North Melbourne is a club which needs to get active........

.............because we have **** all content and a crapload of advertisers to satisfy."

Surprised they don’t just come out and say we are just obligated to make other clubs draft positions better.

8 & 10 will end up at the very least 10 & 12.

We won’t be trading them for 2 x top 10 picks in that case and aren’t guaranteed any of Phillips, DGB, Reid etc there.

GWS will have to throw in their 2021 first to make that acceptable.

Alternatively they can trade us 8, 10 and Caldwell at the end of the period.

THey haven’t even decided list sizes but they make these comments. We will most likely get picks for brown and Higgins plus we already have Corr and young so not sure why such a comment is relevant.
Sorry I forgot we are the fall back when they have no other stories

I wonder if they're holding this back deliberately because they fear that clubs will draft bugger all kids this year?

Will Crows swoop on Dons trade target?

SIMEON THOMAS-WILSON

Adelaide is not planning to swoop on Jye Caldwell if he falls to the pre-season draft, despite the Crows’ admiration of the talented youngster, as Essendon and GWS continue to be at loggerheads over a move.

Caldwell was taken by the Giants with the 11th pick of the 2018 Draft and wants to move to the Bombers and return to Victoria on a lucrative four-year deal.

GWS are digging in its heels over the talented 20-year-old midfielder, with list boss Jason McCartney saying on ABC Radio they want a first-round pick for Caldwell, who he said had only gotten better since being taken with pick 11.

Essendon are also driving a hard line stance on what it will pay for Caldwell, with the Bombers reportedly telling the Giants they are prepared to let the 11-gamer fall to the pre-season draft if GWS don’t settle on a future second round pick for him.
Adelaide are fans of the Bendigo Pioneers’ product, and senior coach Matthew Nicks did spend a season with him at the Giants, but the Crows won’t use their position as the holders of the No. 1 pick of the pre-season draft to swoop in and get him.

Both the club and Caldwell’s camp believe in the unlikely event of him having to enter the pre-season draft the Bombers would structure a deal for the young Giant in a way that would heed off any potential interest from other sides.

Despite Gold Coast and Melbourne being ahead of them last year, Carlton were still able to take Jack Martin in the pre-season draft after offering him a big front-ended deal that scared off rival clubs.
The Crows have already ruled out using the pre-season draft to take Caldwell’s soon-to-be former teammate Jackson Hately for nothing, saying they will work out a trade with the Giants.

The deal for the big-bodied midfielder to return to South Australia is seen as an easy one to get done but is being held up by the Giants’ trying to get adequate returns for Jeremy Cameron’s move to Geelong and Caldwell.

The Crows are expected to part with a mid-range selection to lure Hately to West Lakes, and currently hold picks 33 and 40 in that area for the former No. 14 draftee.

Those mid-range picks are in addition to one, nine, 22, 23 and 50 in the strongest draft hand the Crows have had.

They could still try and strike a pick swap with the Western Bulldogs, which would involve the Crows trading picks No. 22 and 23 for 14.

Port Adelaide’s main focus before Thursday’s trade period deadline will be securing Orazio Fantasia, which still seems to look likely for a second-round pick and some later selection trades despite Essendon trying to either get one of the Powers’ young guns or their future first-round pick.

If Caldwell goes to the pre season draft and Adelaide don’t pick him , North should take him.

My issue is, if you can throw a blanket over the 5, why are GC throwing everything at getting pick 2?
Because different lists are at different stages of being built or maintained, and different list managers have different opinions. GC might think that getting the one KPP to partner King is their absolute top priority rather than stocking up on more mids. We might think extra top 10 picks are gold and midfield depth is our top priority. As long as we stay in the top 5 this year it’s all good (unless we somehow take a collection of garbage picks as the add-ons in which case sack Rawling).
