Well it obviously does to the people in the know, the ones that are paid to make the decisions.

Sorry Jewels. I will never agree with their decision to trade Hewett, and this draft just makes it even worse in my opinion.

Should note that this is nothing against the three we've drafted at all. I especially like the look of Sheldrick.

Actually it does despite you harping on that we needed a million KPP’s. You don’t reach. Take the best available. Warner replaces the winger we lost and we needed a brute
No-one wanted a million KPPs. We took best available at 0/3 picks, we did a massive reach with Sheldrick by anyone's book, not sure how that fits with your strategy?

In any case, happy enough with Sheldrick and Warner, but getting Roberts instead of an actual need, just doesn't make sense. He may well be great, but it's gonna be fun having a million inside mids wanting a game in a couple of years.

You do realise that the Cats were taking him early second round right..he’d literally be the Selwood replacement.

Second one was perfect footy IQ is needed.

Warner is the wingman that we need just lost one different type but suits.

There’s talls next year

I'm gonna need all three of these mids to be better than Hewett for me to ever forgive what has happened this year.

I am going to balance out this frustration with a bit of pragmatism.

We were operating under the assumption that guys like Gulden and Campbell would be key parts of our midfield in the future. Perhaps the club doesn't want that. Maybe they would like them to be nothing more than X-factor bit-players in the midfield, and to be able to use their strengths (elite ball use, outside run and carry) in areas outside of the midfield. This would be very understandable, as if you have a group of mids who can be strong and hard and clean and be in the midfield full-time with the luxury of not needing the Gulden/Campbell types in there, that is one helluva luxury.

That would be my hope out of this.

Okay. But maybe just on on a Hewett safari for the summer. We would thank you.

Yeah hopefully Florent, Campbell, Gulden and Stephens crack on with the outside/wing roles. We're going to need them to.

You need a group hug. Not from me. But you do.

That is fair Ticky and I had been prepared to let it go. I hadn't mentioned him beyond being optimistic about his future at the Blues. This draft has been deeply triggering for Hewett fans everywhere and the club had to know that. I will move on.

Hewitt was the last ranked midfielder in the senior side so much so the club resorted to playing him in defence when all our midfielders were available. You don’t sign a player like that for the amount of money he was offered for 4 years and don’t expect to lose other more important players as a result. 2 years is the most you can stretch it to without it hurting and as he was a free agent that decision was taken out of our hands by Carlton.

But we get it you would rather we tied up a significant amount of our salary cap in our last ranked midfielder in the senior side above all else.

Last ranked doesn't equal last in quality. But that is MY opinion. Not sure how much clearer I could be that I rated him higher than most others on here.

Would rather not get into it as I have sworn Ticky I would retire the subject.

Corey can play in the guts, off half back, or half forward.

He’s done it all with Aquinas & was always rated higher than Chad at the same age.

Don’t be surprised if he takes the traditional Horse route of starting his career at half back.

Apart from missing Bazzo - great draft.

Really hope with his speed he can play off halfback and break lines along with Blakey and McInerney. The main area I think we needed more depth for this upcoming season.
