Very shocked Sam Toner didn’t go

Half forward but played an utterly elite game last week as a wing/mid getting it 25 times and a decent amount of clearances

For me he’s the biggest surprise

WCE got the steal with Herbert in the second round and an upside pick first round

If the Swans are smart they'll make a bit of noise about the number of academy graduates now at other clubs. In addition to the Collingwood crew, May and Carmichael are now at the Dogs and McAndrew at Adelaide (albeit via our own list).

At a time when the talent production lines are about to be challenged by the introduction of a 19th - and maybe 20th - team, you'd think the AFL would want to make sure they don't cut off the supply emerging from north of the Murray.

Going off on a tangent somewhat, HHK's name cropping up set me off wondering about what Magor is up to with his football nowadays. Like HHK, I formed an impression that he was a talented player who just needed a lot of development - and didn't really seem to get it in our VFL set-up of the time. I started thinking wistfully about how he might go in a Malceski-led side.

Any way, I discovered he went back to his junior club after being delisted by us - South Adelaide in the SANFL- but when I went to see how he is going this season, I couldn't find it. I then tracked down that he switched to Carlton's VFL side for 2026, coached by - wait for it - Damian Truslove...

The Carlton Reserves have confirmed their squad of 27 for the 2026 campaign.

I was listening to Dwayne on SEN and a blues supporter called in and gave Truslove a big wrap. Commented on how well the VFL was going and what a great job he was doing developing players such as Ison and Carroll. Have to say, saw zero evidence of that when he was with us.

What's happening with McCarthy and the Twins? How are they going in the academy?

McCarthy did a 6 month or so injury (I want to say Back Stress fracture), the Jenkins twins are doing relatively well, just not anywhere close to being a top 30 talent that we have seen produced from the academy in previous drafts. At least imo
