Merrett gets injured less than Kelly. At top of game Kelly is better but really they off similar in terms of pace and skills.

Merrett was looking at his options because he wasn’t happy with some of the stuff that happened off-field last year(and that subsequently saw Saad leave too). Seems he’s highly unlikely to leave now.

Essendons new found exuberance will create some issue here but it just depends what we can sell Merrett.

Objectively will be harder but if we could trade for cerra, bring in Merrett and an elite mid in the top 10 + the current list and showing some new success with Jai and others we would be in a strong position

It might be the general vibe but is it really true ??
Kelly was offered huge money by GWS/Gil, is that really his fault ? He’d have been stupid to say No.
Most, if not all, of us would’ve said yes.

If Merrett is looking for success then I’m unsure if he’d stay at Essendone, which seems to be the ‘general vibe’ …..on big footy

There's no option/opportunity to offer terms - pretty sure drafted players are on standard terms (contract payments & contract length).

If Kelly wants a pay day he simply triggers his 8 year 8 million contract at GWS.... clearly more then $$$ mate.

Been a bit of talk he is unhappy being played as a high half forward.Wants to be a pure midfielder. Maybe he wants back home. Maybe to contend.

Any which way, if he moves, he's leaving plenty of coin on the table.

Pick 1 in the PSD this year is going to give the team with it huge leverage in trade season this year. Harry Mckay and Adam Cerra are the 2 names that i see possibly falling into that scenario . Especially with the current 2 bottom teams having large amounts of cash available in the cap.

Correct me if I’m wrong but are you suggesting that if North were to march McKay to the PSD then we could do the same with Cerra?

Given you have a certain amount of cap anyways irrespective of list quality, yeah we'd be absolutely crazy to not have a chat and put in a big offer.

Nah that's just lazy journalism. Essendon bat deep now. I'll be amazed if they chase Cerra or Kelly hard. They'd need to offload a Shiel, Langford or know Merrett is out the door to fit anyone else in there.
