Anyhoo, how about that [checks notes] Luke Jackson hey

seriously though, Buddy coming to play for 1-2 years while both teaching our young forwards what he knows & learning the art of forward line coaching from Jaymie Graham before he becomes a head coach when Buddy takes over the forward coach role, all the while spreading out payment over the 3-4 year period is win-win-win imo

Hamling isn’t the same player though. Looks a shell of himself playing for Peel. Guess Bulldogs are desperate.

In terms of desperation, the club really needs to draft or trade for key defenders. Pearce goes down and suddenly the backline is short.
Actually reckon we could recruit a 20-25 year old from the state leagues and get a similar output these days tbh.

Especially when you consider that Hamling has been required once this season, it wouldn't be much of a decision to trade him imo.

All of this relies on keeping Logue of course.

Heps back on the menu boys! (and girls, and everypony else). Yet to receive a contract from the Bombers, this is finally the year we get our free agent.
Free AgentDONE DEAL!!!
INLuke JacksonBecoming increasingly likely he comes home. If a deal can't be negotiated, he may sign with Melbourne for another 2 years.1st + F1LIKELY
INLance 'Buddy' FranklinWants more money than Swans are willing to offer. Would be a 2 year deal if he came across. Has shown a desire to have the kids around their grandparents for a few years.Free AgentSPECULATION
INAngus BrayshawFeel this is more of a negotiating contract to ensure he gets payed what he's worth by Melbourne. However, rumours of a house being bought near Andrew, and gathering noise may point to this being a reality. If Melbourne match, we may not be able to get a deal doneRestricted Free AgentSPECULATION
INCam ZurhaarStill uncontracted at North. Talk is he's happy in Melbourne and unlikely to leaveR2UNLIKELY
OUTGriffin LogueContract on the table is lower than expected. Wants to remain in WA, which only leaves the toast as an option.Late firstSPECULATION
OUTDarcy TuckerCan't break into the side with Fyfe and Brodie, handy depth but may look to head home to Melbourne for more opportunity. Rumours of his partner already gone back.R3LIKELY
OUTRory LobbStill under contract for another year. Club keen to hang onto him, so would take something special to let him go. More than likley will be tied up in the Jackson trade is some way, either to the Dees, or enabling an R1 upgrade.R1/R1 upgrade50/50
OUTJoel HamlingStill a year to go on a contract. Whispers of him heading back to the Bulldogs seem to linger.F4/F5SPECULATION
OUTConnor Blakleylikely to be delisted at year end-LIKELY
OUTMitch Crowdenlikely to be delisted at year end-LIKELY

I reckon this trade period is going to be a game of mexican chicken between us, the Dogs and Dees
  • Bell insisting we can trade for Jackson without losing Lobb
  • Power insisting that Lobb would be "nice to have" but happy to leave him if needed
  • Melbourne insisting they wont trade Jackson without seeing what happens with Lobb first

We have the most power IF we are comfortable our two firsts are enough for Jackson and the salary isnt an issue. If that's not the case, we'll get unders for Lobb and pay overs for Jackson

You would think that Jackson is mobile enough to play Banfields role at least. As long as he could apply pressure on turnover that role itself would offer an upgrade.
Good points, Jackson actually average 3 move pressure acts a game than Banfield (13 vs 10)

Can we play all of Darcy, Jackson and Lobb in the same side?
Yep.
Lobb can finally be full time forward

Look at Melbourne winning the premiership
Jackson as second ruck. Brown and McDonald as FF. It can work m

Jackson is more mobile then Meek so maybe JL might finally play three talls.

We absolutely could play those 3, even those 3 and Taberner

Got to remember Ben Brown was the Fwd/ruck at North but is exclusively forward at the Dees, basically would be the same with Lobb

(although Lobb is going if Jackson comes so its a moot point)

Don’t know people are bagging Hagdorn, when it comes to Colin Young’s players he is usually correct.

Just like Ryan Daniels with Jason Dover’s players.

2022 trade period

OUT- Lobb, IN- Buddy

Lobb is on about 700k from memory covers Buds salary for first year. Give Bud a 2 year contract, gives us firepower whilst we’re in finals contention and gives time for Jye Amiss and Cyclone Treacy to learn their craft under him.

2022 Rd1 pick + what we get for Lobb = Jackson

2023 Rd1 pick = Gus Brayshaw

End 2024 season- Bud retires, Amiss and Treacy on point and WE SELL THE FARM FOR NAUGHTON! (Contracted until end of 2024 at doggies)

Forward line and midfield sorted for the next 5 years in my books

P.S unpopular opinion but time for Walters and Mundy to retire and start blooding the high draft picks waiting in the wings before they jump ship

If we can sign them lower it's a list management win.
Yes but it shouldn't be at a stage it is leaked to the media. Acres has the right to haggle and negotiate until they meet in the middle. Why tf has his player manager gone public.
