the club's vfl section player profiles hasnt been updated. Still has Selwood, Stackelberg and Guerts on there.

But you mean that article, yeah.. that surely was a mistake.
I check that every now and then in the hope that they've updated it, and it is rather disappointing that no-one has bothered!

The article I referred to says this:

That implies he is new to Collingwood, when it should just add the fact that he's returning to the club where he started his AFL career, but was held back by a shocking run with injuries. It's quite likely the person who wrote the article isn't aware that Hartley was with us ten or so years ago, but running it past someone who has been around for a while before publishing it would make sense. Mentioning that Cameron Wild is the son of former senior player Jason Wild would have been nice as well!

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the look of the website these days, and think they're doing a lot right, but there is always room for improvement, perhaps especially with regards to the VFL section! I'm quite impressed as well that the club seem to be sending out more emails, doing the right thing and keeping people informed. As a "long-distance supporter" I really appreciate that!

Vfl profiles (to a point. You can't click on them) has been finally updated

Good to see they've done that, and it's just good to be able to see what all the players look like. It's a pity they're not 'clickable', and there's no information about them available via the page, but I'm pretty sure it was like that with last year's players.

That's Isaac Wallace BTW! Hopefully at some stage they'll fix the spelling! He played a few years ago, headed to WA, then was back on our books in 2021. A Herald-Sun article named these two players as being on our Development List, but they're not included on that page, and a CFC website article that named our VFL list also left their names off, so I'm not sure what to make of that!:

Their names do appear on the VFL/AFL site (under player stats), so they probably are meant to be on the list:

Curiously enough, this name can also be seen on that list!:

Both listed as clearances to the VFL / NAB league, but both also appear to be listed by the chargers in ‘22. Moyle has played for them this year. As such it doesn’t really answer the question.

I imagine Andrews and Moyle's names are meant to be there. This article lists them as new players: VFL season preview: Tigers primed to break long drought

But they also list Faye, who doesn't make it onto the club website or Herald Sun lists, so that probably doesn't prove much either!

According to the Herald Sun we have 14 Primary List and 13 Development List players:

If the list shown on the club website is correct we'd only have 25 players. Every other source I've seen names Andrews and Moyle. Most likely Cameron Wild could have been signed as a Category B development list player (indigenous - that's if he didn't play at VFL level for Northern Bullants last year), but I don't know whether they did that or not.

Think Faye makes it onto the list on account of being listed by us (international). The official site had the full senior list named under the game day stats the other week prior to the team being named and Faye bobbed up there too.

Doesn’t appear that Wild played VFL in 2021, so you could be right about the cat b.

Love this story of Jack

For Jack, it’s been a remarkable journey, and one he’s still struggling at times to come to terms with.

“Honestly I’m pinching myself,” he says. “Today we were having the captain’s run and I was kicking the footy around with Brayden Maynard. And I’m like, really? This is really happening? You do pinch yourself – I can’t quite believe it’s happening sometimes.”
Reminded that Harry had once famously said he couldn’t believe it when told he would be paid to play for Collingwood – he thought you did it for nothing, and would probably have paid for the privilege if necessary – Jack laughs and says he’s had a similar experience.

“I honestly had the same sort of reaction when I got here. They said you’ll get paid. But I don’t really care too much about that. It’s just the chance to play here, to wear the famous jumper, following in the footsteps of my great grandfather and my father, and the opportunities you get at such a big club … it’s amazing.”

Given his background, it’s no surprise that Jack was a Magpie from day one (though his twin sister Isabelle wasn’t so lucky: she got mum’s North Melbourne). He grew up in Pascoe Vale, went to Auskick but didn’t start playing junior footy with Pascoe Vale until the relatively late stage of under-12s. He crossed to Carey Grammar for his last years of schooling and found himself part of Carey’s team alongside one Nick Daicos, with whom he remains very good mates (the two played in the school’s 2019 premiership).

Jack played mostly as a rover or midfield/forward throughout his junior days, and at Collingwood is trying to adapt to the role of specialist small forward. He missed most of last year with a broken leg, which set him back badly, and is still settling into the VFL team but he feels like there is plenty of improvement to come in his own game.

“I feel like my game is building now,” he says. “I’m learning more about being a forward, learning a lot from guys like Neville Jetta. I hope there’s a lot more to come from me in the future.”

Jack is now 19 and is combining his footy with studying a Bachelor of Business majoring in logistics and supply chain management at university. He kicked three goals against Footscray and three more against the AFL Academy team, showing the goalkicking genes he’d inherited from both his dad and, more distantly, Harry. “It seems to run in the family,” he says. “It’s in the genes.”

And even though he never met Harry, he’s deeply aware of the significance of carrying on the family’s traditions. He has Harry’s Hall of Fame jumper, and some of his old medals. The family still get a buzz on Copeland nights whenever the Harry Collier Trophy (for Best First Year Player) is announced. Nor is it lost on him that he also carries Harry as his middle name. “It’s really special to be a part of that history,” he says. “It means a lot to me.”

His grandmother Judith and great auntie Kay, Harry’s daughters, have enjoyed seeing Jack wearing the black and white guernsey this year and are beyond proud. The whole family are: it’s a bit like Jack playing with Collingwood has brought Harry’s legend back to life again.

“Dad and I used to keep the name under wraps a bit,” he says. “It wasn’t until I was selected for my debut against Essendon at Windy Hill on ANZAC Day when Craig Black announced it to the team and he kindly invited me to share my family’s football history and Collingwood connection on such a significant day. With me being here now I’m really proud of it. Everyone in the family is super proud. It’s been a real positive lift for everyone. I’m happy it’s doing that. It’s our story, it’s a great story and we need to write it. Hopefully there’s still a few more chapters to be written.”

I don’t like the amount of holdover emergencies we run with atm it’s ruining some players chances at getting continuity in the VFL. Just go back to the 8 quarter weekends of Brad Dick and Tony Armstrong.

Lippa woke up sick on game day ive been told. Now that explains why they had macrae as a hold over and took him off at half time. Just in case Lippa couldn't play.

Please don't forget Heater who also performed this feat and never returned to the VFL?

Another Vic Park game! 10.30am start, so if trains align there’s an outside chance we’ll be able watch the full game and just make the ‘G with minutes to spare for the seniors.
