This reminds me of a FIFA career mode save I had from about five years ago. I was controlling a struggling team at the time (Koln I think funnily enough) but the title race was between Schalke and Bayern.

Schalke drew their last two games against average opposition (final day at home) and Bayern won their last two (including the final day against me after I went up 2-0 and FIFA god mode then kicked in and they won 3-2) to win the title by one point. At the time I didn't think I'd see something as unfortunate in real life happening. I guess it just has.

Karlsruher ended up finishing a credible 7th, a pretty solid second half of the season after a slow start to the season. Hopefully it will be a positive sign that we can compete for promotion next season.

Karlsruhe's new stadium will be opened this week with a Friendly against Liverpool.

Liverpool to arrive for opening of BBBank Wildpark

Liverpool will headline the arena's inauguration

The 19-time English champions will come to southern Germany to play a friendly match against the hosts BBBank Wildpark. It will be the first ever meeting between the two teams. Karlsruher SC managing director Michael Becker said: The entire KSC family, the City of Karlsruhe and the entire region are looking forward to the opening of the new BBBank Wildpark. We are very pleased that, together with our partner Onside, we have succeeded in finding a top international club in Liverpool FC for this historic event. With its emotional history and passionate fans, the traditional club Liverpool FC fits perfectly with our current motto - DAS FußballERLEBNIS der Region (The Football Experience of the Region - ed.).

The redevelopment of the BBBank Wildpark cost €123 million. After modernisation, the facility will be able to accommodate 34,000 people. The work was originally scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2022, but the date of the arena's commissioning has been postponed by a year.

A real coop for KSC.

Karlsruher SC opened their new stadium with a 4-2 loss to Liverpool, as expected, but the two KSC goals looked good, their defense didn't, but then it looked like a strong team from Liverpool.

Very nice stadium, I hope KSC has a successful season and we can see Bayern and the like play there next season.

I found this an interesting video regarding German football and the fall of some of Germany's biggest clubs from top flight. It's long at over 30 minutes and Karlsruher isn't mentioned enough but still interesting.

It included one interesting fact that there are more German League champions in the second tier (11) than top tier this season (8).

Former German League Champions in the 2. Bundesliga are:
SC Karlsruher (as Karlsruher Fussball Club Phönix)- 1909
Holstein Kiel - 1912
SpVgg Greuther Furth - 1914, 1926, 1929
FC Numberg - 1920, 1921, 1924, 1925, 1927, 1936, 1948, 1961, 1967–68
Hamburger SV - 1922–23, 1927–28, 1959–60, 1978–79, 1981–82, 1982–83
Hertha Berlin - 1930-31
Fortuna Dusseldorf - 1932-33
FC Schalke 04 - 1934, 1935, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1942, 1958
Hannover 96 - 1938, 1954
FC Kaiserslautern - 1951, 1953, 1990–91, 1997–98
Eintract Branschweig 1966-67

Plus FC Magdeburg and Hansi Rostok were both East German Premier League champions back in the day.

Leverkusen now 7 points clear at the top. Bayern have a game in hand, but frankly we're just too inconsistent under Tuchel and will need a minor miracle from here.

I feel sorry for Harry Kane. No trophies at Tottenham, comes to Bayern and this will probably be Bayern's first trophyless season in who knows how long.
