Do you have a link to the article? I can't find anything on Google or the AFL website. Not doubting you, just trying to find the article you referenced.
From the article below:

"For instance, it would have allowed Adelaide to list one of Rory Sloane or Taylor Walker as a veteran for 2024 and opened up another spot on their primary list. The idea was designed to keep veterans in the game without sacrificing a list spot that a youngster may have taken, with the veteran’s full payments still counted in the salary cap."

There's a link in the post above

Still nothing from the club on what basis Toby Murray is joining the club, it was reported in the Border Mail he's joining us via the SANFL but still nothing at all from the Adelaide club their end publically unless I missed it?
I doubt the club would even consider mentioning a top up player at this time prior the draft. I've seen it mentioned on a SANFL website by a reliable source.

Now we have Burgess that would be a gamble I'd be prepared to take, at best Borlase would be an outside chance at a rookie spot IMO.
Agreed. We'd need another tall (e.g. Choll or Petty) before we could allow Himmelberg to leave, but Burgess seems a decent replacement for Borlase.

Possibly a SSP pick. Schoenberg will miss all of the 2024 season you'd expect.

Also the risk of lifelong delisted FA status - more likely to bite us with Bond than Sloane

Exactly. While Bond has been underwhelming he is only just in the system. He wouldn’t be one I would consider for the delist/delist route

Hamill the standout for me

Sholl and McHenry are also options.

I hope we hang onto Sholl personally. Just think he has something to offer and definitely has development left in him.

McHenry I’m less concerned about, I think he should go for his own benefit … he has shown he can play at AFL level but his hurt factor is too low for me.

Disagree on Sholl, he’s got a good kick but lacks other attributes.

Agree, think he is the least risky option.

Reckon NM would have a crack at Sholl and picking up Borlase is just the sort of PR nonsense our friends down the road would engage in.

Brockman trade sounds suss to me. Picks 42 and pick in 60’s. He’s so much better than that. WCE and Hawks have to be up to something bigger than this for this to have gone through.

He is only 20 has pace and can kick a goal. Would have thought pick in second round and nothing later than early 30s

Because West Coast had the threat of the PSD.

Still largely skewed in WCE favour.
No it's not. They have no reason to pay anything more than the PSD pick.

Hawthorn getting anything should be considered a win by them.

Considering how terrible WCE are, they better have a plan to use that PSD pick on someone else - otherwise I'd be desperately disappointed if I was a WCE supporter. It's one of the tools you have to rebuild, and WCE need all of them.

The way the trading is going, having picks 1 and 2 in the PSD could be invaluable this year.
Which is why West Coast threw in another late pick to keep this as a possibility.

Where do you see this untapped potential with Sholl because I'm blessed if I can see where the inprovement comes from.

The reason he fell so far down the draft order certainly wasn't based on his skills it was his absolute weakness/strength re contested footy and actual defending and after 4 years in an AFL system it's still a major weakness IMO. Since teams have woken up he can do damage with his kicking when out in the open they've tightened up on him and his kicking is nowhere near the weapon it was previously now he's under more close pressure?

He’s 23, I think he has improved his attack on the contest as he has put on some muscle.

At the moment he’s a great runner that hasn’t used his elite kicking skills anywhere near their potential.

I think he has not peaked yet.

I just don’t look at him as an elite kick even. Reckon he’s one of the most over rated kicks going around
