I just find the narrative that refs are against a team a pure smoothbrain moment.

I go with in general 99 times out of 100 the better side on the day wins regardless of an umpire call or two, theres holds that are missed every game
 
In a game with such small margins, a blown call can often make a difference

It can it rarely is the only reason. I’m sure you can go back through that game and work out poor options that you took

Of course. It's a game of moments and mistakes. You can pull any play apart and find reasons why things worked out didn't.

But with calls that extend drives or take points off the board it can magnify the impacts.

A blown coverage, poor play call, flukey deflection can be explained.

A missed hold / PI, selective roughing the passer at a key moment can be a dagger that you've got no control over.

I'm not too deep on the script or the fix

On 1st down he just turtles up and take the 7 yard loss. Dude, throw the fckn thing away and at least give yourself a shot at making a 1st down.
