At the ripe old age of 26.

Does feel like he's been around a while.

It also helps that there are a million Grand Prix in a year now.

It wasn't that long ago we had about 16 GP a season, now we have 24 a year.

Think I’ve said this before, but when you’ve lived the misery of following North the last 5 years this distraction can go 30 Races for all I care
😟

So my wish list for Abu Dhabi:
  • Racing bulls and Yuki 'accidently' take out Lando. Failing that, Max and Lando tangle.
  • Max finishes second (first if Oscar doesn't win).
  • Oscar wins, Max second and Lando out or 6th so he ends up third in the championship.
Not asking for much really.

What do people think of Lando's mental fragility with the pressure on him to protect the championship lead?

We know he can handle pressure, he's an F1 driver, but he doesn't seem to like or cope well with additional pressures on him.

Anyone think he might bin it all by himself?

Lando has come a long way from the mistakes in the early part of the season. He still makes the odd mistake but it would take an almighty **** up for him to do himself out of the title. If he doesn't win, I think it'll be with a little help.

The thing is, Lando knows he only needs to podium. He doesn't need to push himself hard at the front. So he can afford to coast a little to minimize the risk of mistakes. The other two on the other hand, need to push hard to have any slight chance.

This just feels set up for Max to win.

Which would be absolutely diabolical for anyone associated with McLaren.

It's also done nothing to convince me otherwise in my opinion that it's only helpful to have 1 driver in a team being a genuine WDC candidate.

You can have 2 candidates (although 1 is probably easier) but in that situation ypu need decisive leadership which McLaren dont have.

I dont think he will bin it on his own but the wildcard here is if McLaren botch strategy again. That could hand it to Max.

Is Seb's first title the last time we had three contenders for a WDC heading into the last race of the year?
Yes - And that 2010 season was when there was 4 drivers still alive going into Abu Dhabi

Since then we've barely had a handful of years where two drivers still had a shot going into the last race
Vettel-Alonso (2012)
Hamilton-Rosberg (2014 + 2016)
Hamilton-Verstappen (2021)

Norris is almost better off qualifying high and then going straight to 3rd haha. Stay out of the way of Mad Max and Oscar and then just stay ahead of whoever's in 4th.
This is fairly much what Norris did in Qatar. But when you part of a stupid team !

I hope Lando goes into the race with this attitude. No surer way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Zac's cover blown.
As much as i'd like Piastri to win, i think at this stage id actually rather Max win, because McLaren have been completely ridiculous in managing this season, have boned Oscar regularly and are not worthy of a WDC.
Osscar winning the WDC and his own team crying would be hilarious.

He treated Ricciardo like shit.

Let's not pretend Ricciardo was particularly victimised or was the only one being targeted by Helmut Marko.

If your name isn't Sebastian Vettel or Max Verstappen you don't get much of a fair go in the Red Bull seat.

You say that but Mercedes had decisive leadership and yet the Rosberg/Hamilton season was still an internal shitfight.

Amazing that a bloke who drove around with his bottom lip stuck under the front wing in Catalunya and wanted to go home to mommy is a big sniff to win it

I just feel like something out of the ordinary will happen. Not on a 2021 level, but maybe?

There’ll be some unhappy people come the checkered flag, that’s a certainty either way.
Like that year it came down to spam v seb lol
